SCG 003 and SCG 003C (formerly known as "P 33")

The power to weight ratio kind of scares me. At that weight, will it pass any safety regulations for track use? The P4 was from an era of less stringent safety regulations.

 

Nice, I look forward to your findings. I am just salivating at the idea of single seat cars like the Atom, Tramonta, and the Mono F1 like posted above.

 

I agree with you regarding the tone of the responses to Jim in the first few pages. Disrespectful at best. Jim is a man who clearly does not need to defend his actions or vision relative to his cars and good taste.

His track record should not be in doubt. His generosity in letting us all participate is a special thing indeed.

uh oh Jim, you just lost a bunch of, ok a couple F-chat fans now that Jalopnik's been tipped off:

They also picture a different Alfa than the T33 I had been thinking about.
Seems that Alfa made a Stradale P33 Pininfarina Roadster as well.
Not crazy about the overall shape (a bit too TVR 280 in the rear flanks, Bricklin in the front) but I absolutely love the targa bar and cut-down windscreen.
Like the '62 Mustang Concept had.
*fingers crossed that P33 will have a Targa top*

That first car is the one I was talking about in the Dino Competizione thread, regarding its sketch and how close the Sergio is to a modern interpretation of it. It's the Pininfarina Sergio of the 70's.

they deleted the old one, and reworded as SCG being the "contractor", LOL

they are all business, not necessarily lookers to be sure, it'll be interesting to see the balance P33 strikes between the aero & styling?

the illustration isn't their own, it's been taken from the many entries of 2011 Ferrari World Design Contest, not even sure if they have permission to use it?

have you considered sponsoring a design student challenge for P33? like one of JM2's senior year projects perhaps?
to cultivate ideas from those talents, give them the pertinent aero device locations/shapes and let'm loose!
that would be pretty cool IMO!

If it is possible to build sub 2000lb performance cars that are road legal then why don't we see more of them?

 

cost of materials & labor vs profit mostly, also designed around being produced in an easy way on assembly line, building components durability to withstand incidents & wear+tear beyond what a maintained custom one off needs, also with many allowances for liability reasons, lastly is many many people have input, from senior managers to engineers, so that all contributes

true, just as an idea for generating/cultivate multiple styling ideas, designers can be so different from engineers in what ideas come forth & perhaps directions not previously considered within the outlined concept, senior students would have the most training, and given the aero envelope info should be able to incorporate that & would be good experience for them also,
but you're correct in that for sure,

Sir, you have truly inspired the direction of future car design and I for one love to see these curvaceous style beauties.
Besides the student designers, there's the huge online auto community at large in which through threads at the largest and best car forums, design ideas can be generated and rated on.

I also think you should not limit the best car design that a car could be... meaning if the rear of the car would look best with a Zagato Aston v12 tail-light treatment, do it!

And with that mentality I think Ive reach my pinnacle of my designing and making my favorite design with the following... which I hope might influence this P33 as its in the same spirit
