Well he certainly is not faster now, I think I can safely say he has made the right move. I have also read that Bernie was the man behind his move to Merc. I also believe Ham gives some decent feedback, as Ham caught Button and his engineers pouring over his set up and he wasn't happy, that's because Ham was in another league faster at some track I cannot remember right now.
McLaren's issues have nothing at all to do with Hamilton leaving! - and don't go thinking that Lewis Hamilton left McLaren because he knew their 2013 car was going to be poor - He had no idea what the car was going to be like and simply rolled the dice on moving to Mercedes to get away from the restrictions that go with being a McLaren driver (as the old saying goes: "A change is as good as a rest!"). As for McLaren: Totally agree! There are a number of issues that McLaren need to address to make the car consistent before the driver's can even start to develop the car properly. Today's latest (From: McLaren not ruling out switch to 2012 car | Malaysian Grand Prix | Formula 1 news, live F1 | ESPN.co.uk ): Asked if McLaren knows what is required to improve the car, Button was reserved in his reply. "Some of it, yes. A few of the midfield teams that would normally be behind us are very surprised also by how quick some of the cars are and I think that has surprised us just as much as how we're not getting the performance we thought we had. I think we have a reasonably understanding of what we need to do, but not 100%, no." As for the possibility of using the 2012 car: Michael also agreed when it was put to him that a switch to the old car might not automatically mean improvement as the front wing would need changing and the 2013 tyres are different: "Yes, those are potential issues that you'd have to overcome, but as I said all of our energy is going in to the current car now." And as I thought: (From: Jenson Button pins hopes on wet Malaysian GP weekend - F1 news - AUTOSPORT.com ): Jenson Button believes rain will offer McLaren the best chance of a good result in this weekend's Malaysian Grand Prix. "I'd rather it was mixed conditions, then we have more of a chance to score points" said Button when asked by AUTOSPORT about the car's anticipated dry pace in Malaysia. "Inters were very good to us in the last race, with P3 in Q2." "When you have a quick car, you want it to be dry every day; no wind, calm, but when you don't have such a quick car you want everything thrown at the field so you have an opportunity." It's going to be an interesting season seeing how McLaren deals with and solves the issues that they are currently facing. As Jenson has already pointed out, Ferrari managed it last year so it is possible that McLaren could do the same.
Well your stating that as a fact, but it isn't. Your guessing, but I do not necessarily disagree with all of it, however I think Bernie the ring master kept LH in F1. I have a feeling he was going to bail out. The upward impetus Ham has appeared to give Merc, could have easily had the opposite effect at Mclaren. Yes we shall see, usually they are never down for too long.
