Here is a fantastic read on the restoration of two of the "gadget cars" from the movie: Objets d'Bond Enjoy!
I like that car a lot (Model S). Looks great. How does it handle around real turns? I know it speeds up to 100 mph very fast.
I haven't put it through its paces yet. Only have had it for 5 days. It does have a very low center of gravity and air suspension. Acceleration is outrageous for a cat this size. Kai
Know any way to get one? I'm sold. But 9 months is a long time for a DD. Nelson took delivery of one and sent a video in which he burns rubber for 25 feet or so. Amazing torque!!
I like them, too. The tremendous acceleration is likely to take its toll on battery range, however, if the car is used for sustained spirited driving (e.g. FOG drives). Top Gear, albeit with the sports car, not the sedan (and hardly objective testers), got the battery to quit way early after a few hard laps on a track. But in DD use, where heavy acceleration only comes in bursts if at all, you will be able to surprise many a sports car with the S's acceleration and handling.
My friend just took delivery of one after only 2-3 month of waiting. They also told him 9 month, but I think the article in the NY Times brought in some cancellations. Silly article. 2012 Tesla Model S - Jay Leno's Garage - YouTube
