good for her! I've always thought she was a great talent in crap equipment. I'm glad she's doing well.

I know Indycar isn't as popular as it used to be and there are several haters on here but I for one am looking forward to the season. I plan on attending the Texas races and am especially looking forward to Houston. I would have preferred COTA but Houston should be a good time. Any idea why Indycar wouldn't try doing something at COTA?

That would make 3 Texas races, something I think Texas Motor Speedway may not be too keen on.... Otherwise I bet everyone else on the planet except the oval specialists like Ed Carpenter would love a race there.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway might be considering a lates season road race there on the F1 track. Not for 2013 of course, but they are really trying to amp up the product and exposure with the new administration.

One thing that has been real interesting this winter is to read some twitter stuff from the series drivers. They have been real active in talking to and in some cases just generally B.S.ing with the fans, making connections that have to be good for the following.

    LOL.

On Letterman Wed night Graham Rahal gave the top ten. "Things you don't want to hear over the race car radio"

One was, "Why aren't you returning my texts?". Pretty funny. Maybe the tweets will slow down now that the driving has begun!

Graham is actually a pretty cool guy and is a regular at the Indianapolis Cars and Coffee meets, even driving a blue 599 GT0 in the sleet. A few of the drivers hang out there and drive everything from CGTs to 67 BB Chevelles.

    Graham's an Fchatter :)

TK was, not sure if he is now.

my statement was more about the lack of off-season commercial opportunities for those guys; NASCAR drivers are busy year round with media/PR gigs. I wish Indycar would return to those days :(

Simona and Tristan Vautier made it to the fast six. Awesome.

The same reason Indy does streets in San Paulo -- Bernie doesn't want any other big series running at the same tracks.

One reason F1 left Indy was that Bernie was annoyed that the 500 posters were still up when he arrived two weeks later for the F1 race.

He likes to think he's the only game in town.

I'm certainly going to be rooting for her, this year.

The women Indy has had were an embarrassment. Duno had no business in a race car, and Patrick never did seem to believe she belonged there, being more a marketing gimmick than a driver.
It's been 40 years since Michelle Mouton proved that women can drive with the big teams. Getting a competitive female driver in open wheel is long overdue.

Taco did amazing with an underpowered Honda mill, too.
Also: Kudos to the rookie for getting into the fast six.

if Tristan and Simona can keep this up all season it could really shake some stuff up (i.e. challenge the Penske/Ganassi stranglehold). which is a good thing.

Doubtful. They throw more money at it than is necessary. But one can hope.

Had to finish watching my Buckeyes so have only been able to watch from about 16 laps to go to finish...

Quite a few DNF's for big names...

Very happy to see the Canadian take the win. Simona really pushed it at the end as well, was rooting for her to hold 3rd.

You could tell from the interviews that she impressed, out there.
No tires left, and *still* held off Marco for quite a while.
Just a shame it all fell down right at the end, but a heck of a drive.

And a good demonstration of the foolishness of people who buy a fancy sports car and then skimp on the tires.
Without the contact patches, you can't accelerate, can't turn, and can't stop.
Simona only lost the drag race to the checkered against the Honda, because her Chevy couldn't get the power to the pavement.
