Stephen, looks great and now you will need to cut off 3" of your tail pipes. I would love too also do that with mine.

Exhaust swap next, Tubi, much shorter than original spec.

I changed out the bumpers as well. Now you can see the original design.

It really is the first thing to be done with these car IMO. The bumpers aren't high enough to protect from anything anyway most of the time. 246/206 Dino crowd with US cars immediately place the Euro look in place, maybe that idea is only recently starting to rub off on the 308 crowd.

Some guys fabricate their own shorter rigid struts and preserve the originals. However..
The bumper shocks are filled with oil. Drill a hole through the struts and let the oil escape. Push in the bumper to the desired depth. More oil will squeeze out. I drilled the hole completely through the shock and fastened a bolt, nut and lock washer to prevent any in and out movement. This is a simple procedure without having to remove the bumpers.

Doesn't that leave you more susceptible to damage in a low speed impact (since there's no longer any shock absorbing capability)?

The bumpers are too low to protect the car from impact against most vehicles anyway. I try not to leave the car parked in a vulnerable state such as parallel.

Is there a shock absorber on the European bumper?

    Congrats, looks nice !

Personally, my US spec bumpers will stay on my glass gtb. I just ordered the xwx 14s and can't wait to finally put those back on.

Some of us really like the originality of the car the way they were made. It's a personal choice.

Glad you are happy with your modification.

nah they don't weight that much: 23kg front, 21kg rear. Maybe yours had something else packed inside, John Delorean style? :O

We keep them because they provide at least a little protection for when we park :)

Your car looks good by the way. Now switch those US style side markers over to Euro!

I picked up a spare set of fixed aluminum mounts to replace the shocks from someone on the board a few years ago. Sorry don't know who makes/made them.

The rear bumper has 2 or 3 inch spaces that are easy to remove, then you'll just need some stand-offs since the mounting bolts/studs aren't fully threaded.

Is that a dual magnaflow setup using their 11 inch mufflers? I'd love to hear it

From my replacement of all the US bumpers and shocks (which weigh 4lbs a piece), I saved about 100lbs total. It is a difference you can feel.

And how many of us ever have their 308s in a situation where they believe they would need an actual bumper anyway? The bumpers are so low they're not going to protect against many cars!

dont kid yourself. Unfortunately, mine has been tapped more than once and those bumpers & shocks have saved her each time. Once by a large SUV.

And I like the look of the big bumpers & the "diaper"

Looks good. I made new aluminum mounts for the front of mine, but got lazy with the rears and just drilled them out...no oil came out just air.
