Following that logic Kimi is hopeless and Alonso is suicidal. Localized noise is good for soap operas, but that's about it.
Bingo. Time and again we read on here that Massa would be so much faster and would win if he were only allowed to but the team/Alonso doesn't allow him to. Today nobody stood in his way but he doesn't even get on the podium. As simple as that.
And yet......love some of the geniuses here....haters make me laugh.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
There just might be a bit more to it than that on occasion. I stated what I did so we could rule out any 'issue' with the car. I might be a fan of Massa, but not at all blind to the fact that FA is better. Much like Vettel is better than Webber etc. Save your sarcasm it was an honest question. If Massa is beginning another trend of weak races Id give the guy the benefit of the doubt if there was an actual issue with the car first. From what Ive read no such 'issue' was addressed. Your quite quick to disrespect people here. You might want to throttle yourself back a touch. Its just F1 and its not that important in the big scheme of life.
The season is very long. I've said it before, and I will say it again-it's a marathon, they don't give awards to people who lead a marathon at the two mile mark. Qualifying for the most part is irrelevant. Any novice sports fan knows its not how you start, it's how you finish, and this championship is long.
The bright side (and reality) is Massa is driving WAY better than years past, so that is great news for Ferrari. And at the moment, he's the #1 in points. The better question is how long is that going to last . He's also qualified better than Alonso, so don't discount him just yet.
Well, add in the assurances that Alonso had no idea of the condition of his car, and we have a regular yucks festival.
The exuberence that took Zo out today is the same exuberence that has given him many of his victories. You've got to take risks to win championships. They don't all pay off. Over the long run I'll take the odd mistake as long as it comes with a greater number of wins.
BBC Sport - Felipe Massa on track for historic first in China Nice article by the BBC on Felipe Massa!
So Massa can be faster than Alonso over a single lap in qualifying! But hasn't recent history shown that, in normal circumstances, Alonso tends to be faster than Massa over several laps in a row over a two hour period? And isn't the WDC based on race results rather than qualifying results? I seem to recall that Jarno Trulli in the Toyota could be blindingly fast on a single lap - and then he'd completely disappear over a race distance! - Mmmm....... That sounds familiar!
Massa in my opinion is a good driver, but I think even before his accident he wasn't as strong in 'racing' as he could be, hence the issues with various drivers where he would appear to give up and be overtaken a bit too easily, but he was always very capable of quick laps given a clean track, so he does know how to win. Since his accident, he seemed to have lacked even the desire to be quickest. He has definitely turned a corner, and the form in qualifying should not be unexpected, this is a guy who consistently out qualified some of the best drivers once upon a time...... the speed is back. Where he lacks is still the race craft and the aggression/commitment during a race, hence Alonso has that single minded desire to win no matter what. He made a mistake on Sunday (possibly helped by overly sensitive braking by webbers bestie) but don't be fooled, we would have seen Alonso unfazed by tyre problems making that Ferrari top-three, while I doubt massa's race would have panned out much differently save being an extra place down behind Alonso. I would love massa to have some great results, but to be honest, I would rather they contributed to a constructors championship for Ferrari, and represented a strong backup driver to a Ferrari world champion in alonso, who in the past few years has out driven mediocre cars to almost get us championships he really had no business being in the running for
2007 Suzuka, Massa Vs Kubica in a deluge, Massa and Kubica drove like demons but unfortunately YouTube has blocked them
