I think this thread is just unbelievable - easily one of the best ever on Fchat - thanks so much guys for sharing this whole story especially with all the pics - all my F cars have been newer ones but it makes me want to have a Dino after reading this thread - the skills you have are remarkable

Thanks all for the kind words. When I read these I always try harder the next day. It really is a labor love and even though I've never personally met the owner all my work is what I'd want if I personally owned this car. It's a great project! The owner has also been a pleasure to work with. He basically gave me free rein!

We finished the sheet metal work on the front lower valance and are now starting a little metal finishing. We finished the nose and fit the grille. We're moving on to the rockers next. I'm starting to see the end.... After the new rockers we should be really close to getting it in primer.

Hey Jon, remember you got a big head start! :)

    Peace,
    Steve

I am using black epdm roofing membrane for the plenum flaps. Same thickness as the original The original rubber gets hard with age and heat. Epdm is meant to spend it's whole life in the sun and get very hot and still stay flexible.

I replaced all the old sheet metal with aluminum panels. The Floor pan will be powdercoated and the heat shields left natural. I started on cleaning up the radio, had the frame rechromed, and started on the window electric motors. 40 years of grime and 40 year old grease inside. The car had an aftermarket antenna and I replaced with an original from my secret supply.

Hey Jon... Can't we find a antenna that will hide... so we can get rid of the ugly hole in the rear quarter?

    Excellent work.
Many folks do not realize how complex the rocker panels are or how much rust resides in there.

So true Scott. If someone has never see how it's done it's very hard to explain. I will try to photograph and show how many different bends and pieces there are to fabricate and complete a rocker, not to mention the different sizes gauge of sheet metal they used when building these beauties nor fitting the door back. So, your threshold plate fits correctly in reassembly.
