I walked to the edge of the abyss and stared down, all the while calculating my survival stats if I jumped, ie Grand Canyon, so I jumped and free falling is such a rush!

I could use some assistance regarding transfering my info such as favorites and pics to my new computer from my old computer. I have not hooked it up yet as I am still waiting for my monitor and wireless keyboard & mouse but can I copy all that stuff to a flashdrive then transfer?

Thanks in advance. I will be recieveing them tomorrow and would like to be somewhat prepared.

^^^^ I successfully transferred my pics!! Man I thought my last computer was fast but this new one ROCKS and I am now completely wireless (well I will be after DELL sends me the wireless router/modem they failed to send with my wireless keyboard and mouse).

I am still learning 'Windows 8' though but overall I am very happy.

Sounds like things have worked out well for you, new computers always fun after the initial frustration period.

I'm still using the Dell XPS system purchased in Feb. 2005. It's gone through lots of upgrades through those years and still handles everything but the latest games perfectly well. New gaming-only system in near future plans but I'll continue using this one for everyday use indefinitely.

My wife has a 2006 Dell system and I also have a 2010 Dell notebook. Good make that's been allround reliable.

I'm in heaven but I am still having one issue and that is adding a desk top icon for my media player. Right now I still have to open the player just to get the screen but with 'Windows 7' I did not have that issue, has my 'puter become "Self Aware "? Atleast someone or something is paying attention!

Just a funny aside the song playing now is "Eric Carmen - All By myself" :D.

I just upgraded from XP to 7 and now have to open Word documents through Word - individual Word file icons don't work anymore. Grrrr!

I spoke too soon  !!

With the new system I thought I was upgrading by eliminating useless cords with a wireless keyboard and mouse and 'phone jack/modem' line. I received the tower this past Saturday and then had to wait until Monday for delivery of the 23' monitor then I waited another day to receive the wireless keyboard/mouse combo . The combo came with a 'drivers disc' yet I received no wireless router so I called DELL back and made a cordial attempt at explaining the issue the next day yet I received yet ANOTHER wireless keyboard/mouse!?!?!?!

Apparentley there is a USB drive, I call them a 'flashdrive' that has all the software downloaded but still never received yet should have been included in the 'wireless' package. I have no doubt I would have received all the required hardware/software in one package if I had been directed to a US customer service/technical rep instead of a rep in India. I'm not racist but I am fed up with DELLS customer service as a 20yr customer.

Sorry I had to vent but customer service is crap these days :(.

Not that anyone cares but after giving Dell one last chance I finally talked with a tech, another 2hrs = 10+ now, who realized I may have been sent the wrong wireless keyboard and mouse!!!! Two less cords for these soon to be "marinated and grilled" kittens to mess with! :D

Oh crap PETA just sent me an urgent email, shackles and chains, what should I wear?

Well it was inevitable...I bought a laptop yesterday so I will have more than just a radio at work and do not have to reread the newspaper 20 frickin times!! I had a specific budget in mind and chose a Dell Inspiron 17-3721.

    21st Century here I come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A laptop or notebook is handy to have even if you don't need it for work - I bought my first one, a Dell Inspiron laptop, around 2000, gave it to a needy friend in '09, and bought present Inspiron 1440 notebook. It's smaller and lighter, handy should I choose to go to Starbucks and play the writer.

Right now I'm sitting with it beside an open home office window, smoking my morning ciggie with an energy drink and checking out Fchat and other usual websites.

My biggest issue with laptops is/was the lack of a mouse although now I realize I can go wireless. Believe it or not the sales rep I spoke with and ordered from was in that quaint little town of Austin,TX! Hopefully she knew what she was talking about when she said I will have service, ie the interweb! The home system is still using a modem/phone line.

Note too self "check the system before you get to work Forrest and cannot find your poon!"

Wireless mouse is the way to go and all I use for both the notebook and desktop. I have Logitech ones older and new - the USB pickup for the new one is so tiny that it's hardly noticeable. In a pinch I can use the finger pad on the notebook OK.

Yes sir I really love this Logitech setup and yepper that USB is out of site (installed on the rear). I'll get adjusted to the finger pad thingamajig I but will get the wireless mouse for it, did you purchase your wireless mouse with your laptop or separately? It will be nice being able to watch movies during the graveyard shift or get on Fchat.

Same here, well with the desktop, and FedEx contacted me today and said my laptop will be delivered by or before 7pm tomorrow. Since I start my 3 day "grave yard" shift tomorrow that was great news considering Dell's proposed delivery date was 4/8.

I think I'll watch "Tropic Thunder" tomorrow night!

Well I received my Inspiron 17 and could not be more happy with it and I am on it now. I do have a few issues with DELL's customer support regarding necessary information. My desktop is not wireless and I was told it needed to be, lie.

So anyway $30 later for a wireless connection device from AT&T and an EXTRA $50/month on our monthly bill I am now connected. Oh well like I said and have been told "Dude it's the 21st century not the '80s, join the club, lol!

Do you have Uverse? If so you should have a router with wifi already installed. I had uverse for 3 months and went to Best Buy to purchase a wireless connection device an the guy working there told me to use my wireless network key on the side of my router as wifi password.

I am a computer dummy but on that note............no we do not have Uverse wireless setup at home, phone line and modem, but we are going wireless (Uverse) this Monday. I am either getting wrong info or talking to the wrong people because I almost passed out when I was told my wireless laptop service would be an additional $50 per month!!

The AT&T sales guy did mention that my computer, since it is new, probably already has this capability. I/we have been with AT&T for 30+ years for our home phone service and for atleast 10yrs for our cellphone service. Our desktop service is between $20-$30 per month, we are recieveing free Uverse installment that I was told would NOT increase our monthly bill so...........................

WHY IN THE "H E DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS" AM I BEING CHARGED $50 EXTRA A MONTH JUST FOR WIRELESS LAPTOP SERVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
