For gin fans, Tanqueray is producing/importing Malacca gin. The bottles we can get in Oregon are labeled "Limited Edition" and have individual bottle numbers. It is an slightly sweet, very botanical, crazy smooth gin. Worth a try if you are a gin fan.

I always thought Malacca was strange stuff: very citrusy. Made a lousy martini but a very good G&T.

Anyway, I'm all for choice and am glad its back.

I agree. In the reading I did last night, the reviews all comment that it isn't great for a martini, makes a great G&T (especially during the off season, i.e. not the summer), and is fantastic for mixing in complex gin based cocktails.
It doesn't reply classic London dry gins, but complements them.

I haven't seen or tried it. Would be interested to know how it compares to Tanq 10 in terms of both flavor, and price.

    Big fan of Tanqueray 10!

Very citrus driven, in addition to juniper notes. Price seems about on par with T10 (can't remember exactly, and we are in a state that controls sales, but the 1 liter bottle was slightly less than $30). Was delicious straight, but I would think it would not mix well with vermouth and olives--it is missing a sharpness that it needs to play well with the typical other martini flavors.

Thanks Scotty, I may have to give it a whirl if Malacca shows up in our state.
