    As you already know and realize the fluctuation in the market for specific makes and models varies yet I am not surprised one bit by the rise in cost of the R5 and us being car/racing guys should expect nothing less.

    2016 Targa Newfoundland, get it? ;)

    yes I certainly do 'got the hint' ....honestly i'd have the first of my clone version built by now, save for some health priorities of my girl paying toward first, everything else is secondary to that!
    but I have all the measured drawings done now, the patterns for the body buck done, and a complete parts list for assembly done, including the Cal for engine mapping already, some key suspension pieces and a full drivetrain ...the chassis/frame welding is going to be done by a friend here who teaches welding, amazing workmanship under a piece contract basis
    the ECU is a reprogrammed (rechipped) OEM ECU used by the engine/trans in it's OEM form, it's an existing Cal, which I used in my previous car with mostly same drivetrain, but will certainly refine some more in the construction
    the Cal uses a 3bar MAP sensor ...uh, you can't eliminate a throttle-body all together (that would make it WOT all the time), but if you mean a MASS air sensor body, no it is speed density type


    Kerim's set up there looks pretty cool, definitely aftermarket, which is good for ongoing tuning and further adjustments and configuration changes in future, notice the shrouded OEM R5 distributor with a reluctor ring inside, having been adapted to the dizzy, great for an individual setup, but also more expensive for sure

    the OEM R5 uses the mechanical bosch CIS injection system of course, same as in my old VW H2Os (scirocco & GTi), also was used on several other car makes, finicky to keep tuned, limited in it's modifications really, same system used on the efi 308/328 and 1980's Testrossa/412 too

    Thanks for that information and mainly I was just curious. The atleast 2yr plan works well for me unless I hit the lottery or $20K suddenly appears on my debit card , that would be :cool: !!

    when I get there, you certainly can, that'll be cool! :)

    I'm personally very partial to the black/white/yellow team Renault scheme, even too the red seats/door panels/blue floor interior

    that orange one has some major mods for sure!

    I cannot find a color combo I do not like to be honest. Eventually I'll have to chose a livery that will work with the stock color and eventually shoot for the full Rally look. I also like the cleaner look of the 2-fog lamps on the front spoiler compared to the extra two mounted mounted within the hood, four would blind other drivers and I do not think they will be legal here in TX.

    I do not want to be or sound pushy but as soon as you can please start a separate build thread! I have a lot of questions that I do not want to cloud up this thread with....enjoy. :D

    another funny one, this is called snake curve and it gets really crowded on a 25 mph curve. Not a place to push it as the CHP always hang out their. A bicyclist is at the end of the pack keeping up with us....:)

    Thanks guys I was hoping for a US based forum but I'll take what I can get and be happy, typical guy lol! I figured I could do myself some good by learning more about the car that will eventually be in my driveway/garage.
