You are mixing apples with oranges.

The F-1 money is greater for the WCC than for the WDC. It is not even close.

Sponsorship money comes to the team even if a driver leaves. In fact, drivers often leave and sponsors stay. So to suggest that sponsorship money follows the WDC is not accurate. Sponsors sponsor the team, not the driver.

Why do you think team bosses always speak of maximizing points for the team? Why do you think there are "team" orders? It is to max the team points and get the most money.

    ;) Whoa!.....

(I never thought I'd come to Pete's 'defense', but here we go......;) )

    - There is zero Bernie $ handed out for positions in the WDC.
    - All Bernie $ is dealt out based on final standings in the WCC. (Plus previous years results, plus if you're Ferrari, plus a few other things that used to be defined in the Concorde. AFAIK, there is no Concorde right now however......)

    Anyway, ;)

    +1

However, Pete's point is what percentage comes from Bernie versus what comes from sponsors.

I'm still not sure even Ferrari can afford to 'ignore' Bernie $, but it's not as significant to them as, say, Force India....... ;)

    Cheers,
    Ian

    Very true.

    Because Bernie specifies that you must;

    - enter two cars in 'substantially the same' livery.

There's no question that Telmex, PDVSA & more are there because their drivers bought them to the table..... But they've got to put their name on both cars.

    ;)

    Cheers,
    Ian

You have miss-understood my post. I did not mean the driver who won the WDC but the team that wins the WDC. Yes the team does win because the driver who wins the WDC has to be driving the best and fastest car.

"The F-1 money is greater for the WCC than for the WDC." - This as I have proven, if you follow my link to my other post (here it is again: WDC team money versus WCC), is completely wrong. The TEAM that wins the WDC attracts the best sponsors and makes over 3.5 times more money from those sponsors than from the WCC. Yes I did the numbers using McLaren as an example.

I hope that clears this up :). Sponsors want to sponsor the TEAM that wins the WDC as the car that wins enables the driver who wins the WDC is the car to have.

They are just waiting for an American to get into F1 who doesn't spit the dummy like Scott Speed when the team puts pressure on him, what a pussie he was

Meanwhile European media are speculating who will take over the #2 seat next year.

Some of the names being tossed around are Kimi and Hulkenberg. Along with Webber, who still might get another one year contract.

Race 2 and the silly season opens. Cool.

So as long as it's an order from someone in authority you don't question what it is? What if the team order was to take out a competitor?

Well, Vettel could've responded on the radio and said, "I'm going for it, tell Mark to get rdy and dance." or a simple no would suffice.

But as we all know, he took the cowardly stealth rat backstab approach. If he had just done that, I would have quite some respect for him, would even consider him in the light of the greatest most ruthless F1 legends of all time like Senna.

But alas, he didn't and he wasn't even man enough to come clean and say it as it was after the race, instead came up with some mumbo jumbo talk of sticking to "the truth".

Sunday is what matters in the end. And that's where Vettel absolutely wipes the floor with Webbo, so far beaten him 4 years in a row, in, as you say, equal machinery.

It won't because Webber has not the talent/speed of a Hami or Alonso.

He will just continue to grumble and fall in line behind Vettel while his fans on here will claim that he doesn't get the same material blablabla

Part of that article, in response to the WCC we discussed (the $100m 'consolation prize', lmao)

Horner recognised that the fans wanted to see drivers racing each other but said his responsibilities were to the 600 people employed by the team and whose bonuses are dictated by the position in the constructors' championship.

"The responsibility is to make sure that the team achieves its maximum," he said.

And you get that without any fuss by letting your #1 driver win and have your #2 come in 2nd. Simple as pie.

If you win the WDC and if your #2 driver gets his act together (read: doesn't behave like Massa last year) then you're certain to also win the WCC. It's pretty much by default a matter of simple math. Most times the team, which won the WDC also got the WCC.

The best part of this whole ordeal has been the epic amount of egg on Red Bull's face after they have claimed for years that they let their drivers race and there are no team orders.

Senna never had to deal with the instant communication of the internet. Think about politicians and celebrities today vs the 80's. Everyone is more exposed with many more opportunities to have the first thing you say be published forever. The increased pr pressure causes a never ending stream of bumbling entertainment in all aspects of the world. Roger clemens, bill clinton, tiger woods, Rory McElroy... etc... etc..We all say/do stupid ****. But in todays world there is no getting away with anything. Someone will expose you. Hell imagine just losing the ability to edit posts! Or Imagine if all our arguments on the forum were done face to face with no time to think or collect your thoughts.

I think he was more than a little surprised at the outpouring of "hate" coming his way. His PR people are earning their cut right now is my take.....
