It is my understanding that this Challenge car is to remain with its original paint so yes I can only assume that it would remain its original colour.
It's amazing what you can find when these cars are being restored! It's good that you're documenting the restoration, Rocco.
There was alway excitement at mosport when the challenge cars were in town the first race in 94 was unbelieveable, the 348's of Marconi and Wagner were banging doors as they crossed the finish line.
we found one of the front bumper signal lamp trim pieces wedged in the a/c condenser, this trim is so hard to find and rarely becomes available for sale
the black paint on the bottom of the car was in need of refinishing due to fading. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Race number 26 is Dick Klarchek with Lake Forest Sportscars. This photo shows Dick in red drivers suit, Rick Mancuso on the black scooter. For evening entertainment we were lapping in two Briggs powered karts, said scooter and a YSR50, great fun! Best, Rob Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk 2
the car featured in this thread is the last car visible in the photo, on the grass side of the track #60. I was at this race in 94 and it must have left impression

I seem to recall seeing Gian Luigi Buitoni running a 348 Challenge car at Mosport. Yellow with a number 1 on it? He seemed very fond of that Hans device; never took it off. More Mosport pictures! CH
Hans devices were not around back then but I do recal GLB wearing a padded neck brace which some racers used to wear prior to Hans use. I also remember GLB having the nicest Challenge livery I ever saw when the 355's were being raced. He'd had a silver challenge car with blue wheels and blue stars on it as part of the Baci sponsorship making it look like the well known chocolate wrapper. I saw that car at the national meet in 1998 and it really made an impression on me.
Any pics of GLB's 355? Thanks Rob for the Hans details! It was hot at Mosport but the racers from Houston thought it was cold up here without the humidity... CH
GLB most certainly wore a Hans device. Downing began wearing them in '86 IIRC. Google "Downing Hubbard Hans" for more information. Www.hansdevice.com Best, Rob Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk 2
