What should I do?

  1. Paint the roof grigio silverstone opaco

  2. Paint everything grigio silverstone opaco

  3. Paint the roof nero setoso (glossy)

  4. Do something else.

So I currently have a matte black wrap on the top of my can and it is beginning to peel and bubble. I’ve committed to making it permanent by having the wrap removed and getting the roof, sails and mirrors painted (plus I have to address a small crack in the driver-side mirror). Personally, I’d like to go with an official GTO roof color; Grigio Silverstone Opaco or Nero Setoso. I’m not positive if there were any other color options (nero opaco?). The current color of my 599 is Rosso Monza.

The first pic is my car and the second is a close example I could find scouring the net. It’s a GTO that is Rosso Fucco / Grigio Silverstone Opaco. I like the look. But if I went with it, I think I might be inclined to paint the rims and other mesh grills on the car.

I also think this second GTO's roof is gloss, but I'm not positive. The only other cars I could find with the gloss black roof are in corsa red, which does not give an accurate comparison.

    Thoughts?

I would remove the wrap and leave it uni-color.
Rosso Monza is a great color.
If I really wanted to do the bi-color..then I would choose simple gloss black. Not a fan of matte colors.
This is of course a very subjective matter of taste.

    This.

I really don't get those matte colors. They look good only on stealth jet fighters IMO.

Look at this GTO with Gloss black roof instead of matte black : BEAUTIFUL... I want to Kiss the owner for speccing the car like this.PERFECTION ...

I love the look of the GTO that is Rosso Fucco / Grigio Silverstone Opaco. However, I think I love it because the rims match the roof. The white GTO with the gloss nero roof has gloss nero rims as well. IMO, if you do the roof, do the rims. Otherwise, uni color and keep your gorgeous challenge rims. I think that Rosso Monza is the best color and wish I would have gotten that instead of Nero. Whatever you do, post pics.

That third photo is an HGTE 599, not a GTO.

Does an HGTE have a vent in the back wing, [ I think you call the fender's ] It has HGTE wheels though.

I'm with you on the back wheel thing, not my cup of tea.

I would leave it all Rosso Monza, but it is your car.

I am against painting it, it's so much easier and cheaper to just wrap it. How about changing the wrap and getting it installed somewhere where they know how to, it shouldn't bubble or peel.

As I said, it is your car, the decision is ultimately yours.

On the picture that's an HGTE P-shopped to make a rendering of the upcoming GTO.

I remember that picture published at the beginning of 2010

Grant- Beats me, but with an HGTE exhaust, HGTE wheels, and no GTO on the back, it looks like an HGTE.

Keep it unicolor and get the HGTE wheels. Drop it a little and it will look superb.

    End result:
    1. Removed the wrap
    2. Repaired mirror
    3. Repaired hood chips and other damage under the wrap.
4: Painted roof, mirrors and sails gloss metallic black. Nero Setoso.

I couldn't be happier. The team at Custom Cars made it look amazing. So much better than the wrap and glossy instead of a matte finish.

How long have you had it like this? I believe I've spotted you before. Gorgeous indeed. Love that shade of red. Enjoy it!

The wrap has always been there but the process of removing it and repainting it was just completed last week.

Hi Phil...have seen you around before. I had the Silverstone HGTE @ Italian Village recently, you were at the opposite end. Personally I would have opted for full Monza, but looks like you pulled the trigger on gloss black, which I think works much better than the matte. But now that you have one foot on the dark side, may make sense to get the other foot in and paint the wheels black too :)

Hope to meet up this season!
