    Hello to everyone,

I am contemplating between a 94 and 96 456GT, advice appreciated. The 94 model has very low mileage, less than 20k km while the 96 model is about 50k km. Both cars look good. Is there any difference between the two other than one has 2 airbags and a nicer looking steering wheel? Price? The early model is only cheaper by a little, say about USD3k.

What do you guys suggest? Is it always better to go for low mileage? Or is it always wiser to go for a newer model with higher mileage with most of the wear and tear parts replaced since the car has been used quite a bit. I know Ferrari parts are extremely expensive to replace. Records showed that the 96 model had a clutch changed few years ago. Belts were changed recently. Shocks have be rebuilt but damper function disconnected. AC switch has been modified with a separate switch on the side. Back spoiler motor needs to be replaced.

As for the 94 model, all functions work except all the seals for doors, trunk need to be replaced. It has a F430 rims with her. Are those seals costly? This car is currently not drived for several months but start upon one crank. It has tubi while the 96 has a capristo.

    Appreciate some feedback

    Thanks

i would say that mileage ist not the most important thing on a 456.
it makes a big difference if you choose a 456 MGT instead of the first series.
between ´94 an ´96 i would take the car in better condition.
are both manuals? what colour combos are they?
430 Wheels are not a good thing on the 456. Wrong size and wrong looks.
Be aware that changing the door seals does not solve the window problems at first series cars.
Have a look in the 456 section - you will find any information needed there.
Always buy the best 456 you can afford!
Good ones are really great cars.
    good luck

    HI Michael

Thanks for the input. Both are manual. 94 car comes with a red paint with black and beige combo interior and the 96 has a complete black interior and is also resprayed red ( original colour is grey, I think). It also has a 19 rim painted black and lowered.

I am aware of the window issue and the issue was rectified on the 96. Is overheating an issue with 456? I like the M model too but so far none for sale and hard to come by. The later series looks a lot better in look too. I see you have a later model in your collection, very nice.

    Regards

the 456 runs significally hotter than the 348 but does not overheat. first i was a little worried when looking at the water temperature while driving in town but thats normal and does not cause problems. there was a thread in the 456 subforum as far as i remember.

generally i would stay away from things like "lowered", "black painted wheels" and other mods on the 456. it simply does not fit this elegant and understated GT. even red is not the first choice but thats a matter of taste. the only modification on my car is a tubi that sounds great in lower revs and becomes more quiet at speed and high revs.

    Hi all,

Yes it is far from Europe but we do have competent mechs to fix them. Lots of Fs here too but all are queens of garage.

Michael, I see you have 2 456s, tell me more about driving both cars. It's a big car nevertheless. These cars are not easy to sell here too for several reasons despite being the cheapest F car money can buy now. So if one were to buy it, must be prepared to hold it for a very long time. So there must comforting reasons for me the pull the trigger. Having said that, I do need a 2+2 car.

I think blue is the best suit for this car. Malaysians kinda stick to red for Ferrari, sigh.

    Regards

    I dont have two 456s. I have a 348 Spider since 2001, had a 308 GT4 for some years and have the 456 MGT since 2 years.
like you i needed a 2+2. the child seat fits very well and my daughter 4 years old did some rides with me. she felt comfortable and likes the car.
any front V12 is very different to the mid 8s. i cant decides which one i like more. the 348 is a very raw and noisy driver, perfect on small mountain roads but tricky when driven hard.
the 456 is the perfect car for driving long distance fast. it feels much safer and comfortable with just the right amount of electronics and servos. i love the power delivered by the V12 and the all leather interior is much better built.
but on the other hand the 348 is all you would expect from the first Ferrari - red, flat, loud ..
Driving an elegant GT or a beast is your chioce in the 456. in the 348 there is no choice, its always a beast.

.. Blu Tour de France is perfect on the GT with beige interior. i like grey too. but i also have seen very nice rosso corsa ones. so find the best you can get - they wont get cheaper than they are now.

Upon inspecting the car's undercarriage found traces of oil leak from the engine compartment. Is this the cam cover weeping issue? Does it need immediate attention or let it be for a while, or this is just a common issue with 456? Also AC not cold, what problem can it be? Help appreciated.

    Thanks
