Almost one year and 15k miles. Drive in sport only. Get about 27 average, mostly highway with traffic.

I have a sprint booster. That makes normal mode sharper. That plus the sport makes the car really pop. In fact, I feel I need to turn off the sport in stop and go traffic as it is too jumpy

FWIW, Abarth convertibles are arriving at dealers. My dealer's site showed one in stock (now gone) and one in transit...both with MSRPs north of $30K...ugh. Hopefully in a couple years I can find a nice, no option one for < $20K.

Or I can save a few bucks and get this Pop convertible; I'm sure the dealer will honor the price.

Ok... we've all seen the Fiat jumping in the sea in Italy and arriving in NY ads like a million times. Great ad... certainly must be working because it's been all over the place.

But, why in some of them do they have the lyrics in English and some in Italian? Anyone know? NOTHING happens by accident in advertising. It's got to be intentional.

Do they feel that some people won't like the Italian version?

"Maybelle... come here and listen to this. Is that EYE- tal - Yan she's singin'? What the heck???"

Ironically NOLA Motor is the track where I work as an occasional corner marshal.

Those are awesome; too bad the price point is too high for US tastes.

    I love this badge...

Don't kick the nut. :) Fiat came out and said the auto would be to lure more female buyers to the Abarth. Sad I know.

By "automatic", do you suppose they mean a torque convertor slushbox, or an F1 type box with clutches and paddles? Note the hot rod versions I posted above do not have shifters...

Is your friend's car a regular Abarth with an F1 automatic, or is it one of those special edition versions?

    Thanks

I have a race-prepped US Abarth which I also use around town.

The 5 speed is fun, sort of keeps my shifting skills current.

However I would love a DSG, if only so my wife and daughter can use it and I won't have to worry about their downshifts on track...though would have to put more weight over the front wheels. I have "heard" that the DCT is actually pretty good, cannot recall who makes it

I believe it was the standard abarth coupe but not 100% certain. During the short ride, the gear shift felt to me was similar to the 360 F1 where you could obviously tell it was shifting up and down.

Anyone drive the new turbo yet? Supposed to be softer more as a daily car than the track enthusiast Abarth... how tiring does the Abarth get in daily use?

I enjoy the hell out of it, great daily driver. It's not a punishing ride in any sense, but it is loud. On the highway, it can drone a bit, but doesn't bother me often enough to care.

The automatic on non-US Abarths is a single-clutch robotized unit by Magneti Marelli, bolted on Fiat's C510 gearbox (same as the manual version), made in Termoli, Italy. In marketing terms, it's referred to as the "Abarth Competizione" gearbox. First application was on the 695 Tributo Ferrari, but it is now available on ordinary Abarths as well.

Fiat currently has no dual clutch transmission that would fit in a 500. They only have the C635 DDCT (aka TCT), made in Verrone, Italy, which has been fitted to the Alfa Romeo MiTo and Giulietta, and the Dodge Dart. A more compact dual clutch gearbox for lower torque applications is in the works.

I'm enjoying mine as a daily driver. As for the exhaust noise, well, I like it, and it's a lot quieter than my Ferrari (which is certainly not a driver)!

Had my 32k service Friday. Dealer put me on a every 3000 mile oil change now. When I had the engine replaced, they said 5000. Now 3000. Wonder if there have been problems?
