The car I bought is missing this panel and it seems that some people have gone with the Carbon fiber ones. I would just like a stock one. Does anyone have one? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not to hi jack the thread but Mitch can you tell me what decals go on both sides my hrs has one on it but it looks like its missing one.
I too bought my car with the right side panel missing. Because it's a 95, I gave Daniel at Ricambi the 64627900 product code which indicates it's for a 2.7 spider on the charts I looked at and he sent me the one with the cutout at the end so he did send me exactly what I asked for. However, that cutout at the end just serves no purpose at all and I can't figure out what it is for. In the end, I made some brackets and put an oven thermometer in there to read the engine bay temp and give that cutout somewhat of a purpose. My advice is that you order the 64501500 model number even if you have a 95 and/or a spider so you get the proper full one without the cutout. It will give you better ECU protection from water and looks better anyway. As for the labels, I searched and searched everywhere with no luck, they were impossible to find so I riveted the holes shut, wrapped both panels in Carbon Fibre film and they look pretty good now. p.s. the last photo is my car (yes it's a spider, the roof you see is a removable hard top) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
My 95 has no such cutout. Search the threads. There's a fellow on here making the emissions one. I bought one from him because mine was unreadable.
Somewhere out in the world, there must be piles of these things. I don't know how people remove such a large part and lose it. Presumably, auction houses pull these off in an attempt to jump start them and then just pretend the panel was never there.
You have a rare Euro cover with a cutout for a harmonic resonator: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/135931402-post2.html
There must be a big stash of them somewhere !! Because so many 355s are missing the darn things for some reason
Oh I know the photo isn't a 95 it was just easy to use as a quick reference. I guess a lot of people take them off to jump the car and then don't put them back on. The ones from Daniel will be free of the emissions information and the other placard that I am not sure what is on that. the search is one though
I have neither LHS or RHS engine bay panels. Not sure why, but the LHS (drivers side) panels are somewhat easier to find. One used parts seller is asking $130 for the LHS one but ALMOST $600 FOR THE RHS ONE. Hello? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? Now, prices are starting to climb even higher than new OEM Ferrari panels. Go figure. If there is someone printing/making the decals for these panels, please send me the contact info. I am ready to just buy the CF ones and be done with it. But I do want the proper decals in the right places, even if they are aftermarket stickies. thanks all. ketel
Some day someone is going to find a stash of right hand panels hanging out with all of the single socks that somehow disappear in the dryer...
That's funny. I was curious because out of all the vehicles I have owned my 355 seems like the engine bay gets firecracker hot.
The cool thing about 3D printing is parts like this will become available so easily and cheap I guess within the next 3-5 years. You'll just need to walk in with the shop, give the guy the left side panel, he scans it, mirror-flips it to have the correct design for the right side, 3D prints it and you walk out with it for less than 100$. You get home, spray paint it, install it and it's done!
what was the point of the harmonic resonators? looking at that photo, it just looks like air from the pillar intakes is being ducted into the engine compartment for no reason.
Mike, They were only found on Euro Motronic 2.7 F355 Spiders. I think their purpose was to lower induction noise to meet certain European codes. Perhaps a European owner can elaborate further. Barry
If you haven't called them all ready, try Ryan at Exotic Auto Recycling. They seem to part out 355's. Contact info: Ryan Jones Exotic Auto Recycling Exotic Auto Recycling, Leading part supplier for Ferrari, Maserati, & Lamborghini (916) 638-8000
