Assuming they have solved my foot being obstructed when going from accelerator to brake (apparently it was a pre production model), decision time is fast approaching on a spec.

Two choices. Option 1 is Silverstone with Beige or Cuoio and Option 2 is Grigio Ferro with beige or Cuoio. If I spent the extra on the Historic colour option 2, then I would be tempted to spend an equivalent amount on carbon dash etc on the Option 1 car whereas the Ferro car would have the grey ally finish.

Is there more chance of getting more of my money back on a historic colour or carbon interior details? Indeed does the used market recognise the extra cost of an out of range colour?

Alternative is no carbon detailing (dash etc) on the silverstone option resulting in a cheaper car overall

I know, get what you want, it makes no difference provided it is finished the way you want, but with that attitude I would have the Ferro car with a mass of carbon options which is just burning money and in my case I consider that self indulgent and like to temper my decision with some element of financial sense.

    Thoughts?

I don't think the resale price will reflect either option. Price is determined by saleability and there are many other options which will be important ie shields, the right wheels, colour (desirability not cost)/ Leather colour etc.

If you can afford it go with what you want not what you think the next person will buy, I got that wrong with my 2nd 599 speccing it for resale and always regretted it, in the end the resale price is not hugely different unless you go off the scale with Pink or something :)

fwiw I've decided not to buy an F12, just too much money for a depreciating car, I've stepped back into my Rosso Fiorano 599 for about 1/3 of the cost of a well specced F12 and I'll be keeping an eye out for a well priced F40 or perhaps an older Ferrari, eg 330 etc

You are probably right but I failed to mention that I only keep these cars for about 12 months so as to try and minimise depreciation. Aside from the LM which is a keeper.

I vote Ferro/Cuoio. Ok, I'm biased (I have it on a Spider), but Ferro has something in it that comes to life alongside Cuoio. Just put the dealer samples together and you'll immediately see how well they work together. CF is nice...but the historic colors are somewhat unique. As for the resale, you're talking changes of a few percent at most...I say get what you like best.

As a used car buyer, I would be willing to pay extra for a Grigio Ferro F12 with standard interior trim vs. a Silverstone with CF trim. You never know, I *could* be the next buyer :)

it's a nice idea but I wonder if the market has changed, I'd be concerned that in 15 months time (build plus 12 months ownership) it could drop £60k+

It is a concern, but then if I kept the Spider another 15 months? No easy answer.

Unfortunately the 599 is not an option for me as it feels somewhat of a dinosaur after the 458, wonderful car though it is.

Nero exterior with Rosso/carbon interior seem to sell quick on 599's. IMO it's a fantastic combination that works great on f12's as well...

Silverstone may be the most common color besides Rosso (& Nero maybe?) and theres a reason for that. It just looks awesome. So no problem for resale Id say, on the other hand theres some stunning rarer colors, so if you find the right person who is looking for a particular color combo you might get a premium out of that......so I vote Ferro for being a bit more special than Silverstone. Cuoio interior is very popular and goes very well with both.

Another vote for Grigio Ferro and cuoio interior. What about that 'engine turned' aluminum for the dash and vent trim? That metal trim was shown on an early F12 with a black interior and red carpets. Red alcantara on the door panel and red inserts for the daytona seats was a very classic look though.
Will you get the sport racing seats (large) as some say they are much more comfortable than the standard seating?

Don't wanna state the obvious, but: If you wanna have a lighter silver/grey metallic than Silverstone and, if you are thinking about Ferro, you take the costs into account -> why don't you go Titanio then? Titanio is pricewise just as Silverstone and it's traditionally one of the best Ferrari colours. I like it better than Ferro and Silverstone.

(I just note: on autogespot, there is a grigio alloy F12 which is great. Just have a look).

Titanio is great and I currently have a car in that colour but it needs a black interior and I think the F12 needs a lighter one hence moving towards the darker greys.

I had a 550 with Titanio on Bordeaux and that combination is both classic and stunning.

Between Grigio Silverstone and Ferro, I think the resale issue is small to nonexistent. Both are gorgeous. Get the one you like better.
