Phil has qualified well but can't get his **** together on Sunday, you know, the day when points are scored and championships are won...as I said earlier in this thread he needs to exorcize the race day demons from his head.

It's obvious what the trouble with Fading Phil is. And it seems obvious that it is not being corrected.
What is not obvious is why he still has the drive?

I like the guy and would love to see him succeed but sooner or later he has to fish or cut bait.

 

As tifosi we would all like Phil to succeed but this thread is over 5 years old. He has a real chance in Bahrain, a circuit he likes, to turn his RACE DAY fortunes around. You win nothing for qualifying well....

 

At this point how significant would one result be?

The only way it will happen, is if Fred has mathematically won the WDC, or he DNF..

In theory the car is good so the odds should be fair to good...

Don't forget Webber's starts....One could be forgiven for thinking that someone might have tied his car to a tree, with the starts that he normally has...

Massa's issues aren't always in the opening laps. Hence the Fading Phil sobriquet.

Well, a sprinkler wouldn't take the same driver out twice.
In the same race.

 

kimi had a lot of wheelspin but only lost 2 stops off the line. Webber usually loses a lot more off the starting line when his car bogs down.

True but the longest journeys begin with the smallest steps. I'm not saying he will win the WDC but, he needs to more effectively serve his purpose, ie, take points away from rivals which he has failed to do so. A podium is necessary in Bahrain. The car is good n it his one of his favorite tracks. No excuses!!!

Once again - Massa sucked. He had a chance for a great result with his tire choice in Q3, then screwed it all up. On the opening lap, it was Massa who slid wide into Sutil and broke the front wing (around T4). Massa's fault, not Sutil's.

Then 2 punctures? Pirelli said both of them cause by cuts, not wear/delamination. Nobody else picked up cut tires during the race. I'd guess that Massa was using a different line or too much kerb - just like two seasons ago, at the race where he shattered the front suspension twice. The videos then showed that he was taking way more kerb than anyone else on a particular corner, and was hitting the back of the kerb too hard and breaking the suspension. Massa whined after the practice failure that the track needed to repair the corner, but was told instead to stop driving over the back of the kerb, since no other driver had the problem. Idiot did it again in the race anyway, and what do you know, he broke the suspension again. So today's tire failures - I'd guess Massa's fault.

4th to 14th, another drive backwards through the field. What a waste of a good car.

 

would they do a midseason change?

 

Thank God I didn't bet on massa to podium. I had a feeling he would do well here but he pulled his usual race day disappearing act. He completely shat the bed today.
