Mine was measured with 397... with MSD ingnition, euro model, bmc air filters, only thing was the muffler where we had trumpets installed, I'd say 420 is accurate, everybody who claims more is just a dreamer...

Thanks! Yes 420 hp seems to be accurate. Your car shows 352 WHP.

Here you are WHP data of every Countach version:

    Dear Raymond,

are you sure the flywheel figure was accurate on your dyno you posted? This is because I found a SV Diablo ('00) dynoed on Dynojet SAE that shows 405 WHP.

2000 Lamborghini Diablo Dyno Sheet Details - DragTimes.com

With 352 WHP, your is almost JUST 60 whp less than a SV Diablo figure.

It's known that the SV diablos are weak in power delivery, definitely the 357 whp are accurate, without the silencers at the muffler exit it would have been at least 15-20 more...

I haven't found a Diablo except the 6l which was really faster than my QV...

350-370 wheels HP range seems to be a great result (at flywheels) to me for a DD Countach... even compared weak SV Diablos... happy of this!

Here an interesting QV DD French article:

    http://up.autotitre.com/ff1b828498.jpg
    http://up.autotitre.com/d59385a21e.jpg

Looking the test data this DD seems to be very fast. Just 420 hp aren't enough to complete this test. The 0-100 km/h time in 5"9 then concluding the standing km in 23"29 means to be as fast as the Diablo. Even the example 160-180 km/h partial seems to be slightly slower than the Diablos tested and considering the higher Cx aerodynamic coefficient of the Countach these results, to me, need simply a lot of power.

5"9 is even slow, Auto Motor Sport measured 4,9s...

Most carburated countach's are out of tune, today it is hard to find mechanic who actually knows hown to tune carburators, some might even claim to know, but reallity is far from ideal, I think that is what makes these differences, that also explain differences between otherwise similar cars.

Look at the 160-180 km/h in gear results:

    3.3-3.5s Countach 5000 S (Autocar, AMS)
2.2-2.4s Countach QV (SportAuto Fr, Quattroruote)
    1.9-2.0s Diablo (Quattroruote)

The QV is much closer to the Diablo performance compared the 5000S. And thinking about "drag", I guess that Valentino reported plausible story about the QV engine definitive output. Analyzing it, these seems facts. I would like a denial from you, if there is...What are your sources of QV engines overrated?

I also initially thought to an overestimation, but I'm starting to see it in a different way.

I tend to agree with Emilio. I have driven my QV back to back against an SV and VT and whilst the diablo has smoother delivery due to the FI and slightly more mid range I didnt notice anything significant in speeds up to about 140mph. On Another occasion we we jumping between cars for a 100-150 mile cross country run, also using a 360 CS and 430 at up to 130mph. didnt notice too much again.
With the age and use of these cars I think it would be very much down to individual cars and the way they have been driven. A garage queen of either is unlikely to do much!

Did you speak with Sandro Munari? The 25th was never properly tested in multiple locations to reach any conclusions, but, the man who did much of the development work says it is the quickest of all Countach, and, you will notice that it is aerodynamically more efficient.

Hope you are well, and best regards to your father.

Yes, I have noticed your point. High speed times and top speed of the 25th were always a bit better than the QV. All the times were both around 12.9-13.0 on the 400 meters, the 25th seemed to be able to reduce by few tenths the 1000 meters result. And this is because of the aerodynamic more efficent than the QV (but QV looks better to me).

I'm fine, thanks, and I will pass your greetings to my father. ;)

Do you have any test articles for the Countach 25th? If so you could post here. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/lamborghinichat-com-sponsored-lamborghini-houston/394041-countach-25th-anniversario-64.html You have more than anyone!

I doubted it but Sandro says the 309 km (192 mph) as shown below is real, but the rest of the results are similar to QV, so I am assuming it is the aero shape that accounts for the higher top end.

The 25th was tested by Auto magazine in Italy. I will post it immediately there. Just the time to take a pics.

And you're right, on this test the car was able to 295 km/h and not what says Sandro in the other article (I also have it too).
I think the 25th has more aerodynamic profile but only slightly more...

    10 minutes for the picture..

No it's because it has a lower gear ratio, this was done to have at least the same values than the QV although it's 100 kilo heavier.

Singular! magazines declare the same gearing..
    1st 2.232:1
    2nd 1.625:1
    3rd 1.086:1
    4th 0.858:1
    5th 0.707:1
    Final drive 4.09:1
Which gearing was choice for the 25th?
