I can offer you a few links to get you more interested in Porsches that are beyond the normal stuff.

The first picture you posted, I believe is of Magnus Walkers garage out of California. He rebuilds and modifies amazing Porsches mostly from the late 60s and early 70s. Check out his block.

Make sure you find his video on this site call 'Morning Drive'. If that doesnt make you want to buy an old Porsche, nothing will!!

Also take a look at Singer. They build highly modified Porsches with amazing attention to detail. VERY expensive. Some of their builds go from $350K and up. I would rather have one of theirs than a Porsche GT.

    Cheers.

I am very well aware of both Walker and Singer :)

Walkers videos on YouTube (there are several uploaded by him/his wife?) got me obsessing about pre-964 Carreras, which were totally unknown to me. But now I'm reading about them and, to my amazement, I would get actually get a 911 Carrera 3.2 over a 964 and 993.

Thing is, it's the modification part that turned me on about vintage 911s. I mean, just make sure the chassis is free from rust and damage, and put in a 964 engine and 993 brakes, tune the suspension to your liking, put in seats/steering wheel to your own taste and you could probably go on forever. I love those mid-placed bonnet fuel filler setups + a ducktail spoiler...
The other part is of course that the cars seems like a challenge because of their rear engine setup. As they say, if you are able to control an aircooled 911 you could probably drive everything else as well.
These two things combined makes them cars you could grow with for years! Love that...

You should all watch this, very inspiring:

As you can see my Type 2 Double Cab lives in the "Rare Air' family! Of course she only transports stoves and refrigerators and not vintage racers. Although I could probably carry the speedster. Truth be told, these are amazing little trucks. The problem is that the bed is too high. I wouldn't even know where to begin to get a car up there. OF course my double cab would only be able to carry an Isetta or a Meshershmidt since the bed is shorter, compliments of the extra cab

I know. Hopefully next year with a new RSR will bring back the Lizards of old.
