Hi Guys, I have a 1999 F355 F1 Series Fiorano, #86. My car is currently at the dealer for a transmission light that comes on intermittently. They have done very extensive diagnosis without trying to sell me a F1 kit. Unfortunately it turns out that I might need one. The dealer is telling me my F1 pump runs constantly because the hydraulic pressure is not being held in the accumulator. Do any of you guys know where I can have mine rebuilt or possibly buy a rebuilt one? Thanks, Todd
Is the accumulator part of the pump assembly? If so there is a kit for retro fitting a 360 pump total cost is around $1,200 including pump. Sorry I can't find the thread about it hopefully someone will post it.
Hard to understand the full scale of the issue without seeing it. You do know that if the F1 pump relay dies, it dies in the "ON" position... which means the pump runs all the time regardless of system feedback. It is a $50 part and probably would be worth swapping out before hydraulic lines get disconnected. Just a thought.
If you do end up needing a new pump unit I found the recent thread on the conversion. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/348-355/402272-bleeding-355f1-system-3.html
The accumulator I believe is near the pump just make sure they said accumulator and not actuator. The actuator is on the GB and actually shifts the gears. I have not bought one yet however Ricambi is a sponsor on here and if you phone them they will tell you if it comes with it. I believe it does. But like the previous post check the fuse I carry a spare in the glovebox and as said previously if it runs for more than about 10 seconds its leaking or buggered fuse.
As I thought the accumulator sits on top of the pump and is easy to see with your left inner wheel well liner off. It looks like a upside down bottle. If my car was here I would check it on how it seals to the pump. I am not sure if it is removable but if the accumulator is not holding pressure I would think a leak would show up. Wipe it down and then see if you notice a leak if its leaking you should see oil. If not it could be the actuator itself. All or should I say a lot of actuator seals leak but sometimes this is the leak on the shaft where it seals the GB oil in and sometimes the actuator itself. you can tell by the type of oil on the ground by the accumulator. If you need to talk to me private message me and I will give you a ph number. Grant ps if the accumulator is leaking I believe some fchatters have changed them and they might chime in.
Search ricambi PAB355F1-C [PAB355F1-C F355 F1 Pump Combo] $1,100.00 Set Part number and YES the accumulator is part of this upgrade.
I've got an accumulator bottle. If the shop confirms that is the complete problem, let me know. I might be able to help.
Thanks guys....Ferrari of Central Jersey has the car now...I am extremely pleased with them so far as they are REALLY trying to figure an alternative....Apparently on the 355 you have to buy the entire F1 which is like $20k+...so I'm praying that the accumulator bottle that Ricambi has from a 360 will work...I should know by tomorrow. I was told that on newer models you can buy F1 parts separatelky....You guys are awesome! THANK YOU THANK YOU!
How is your F1 system working? Are you able to get all gears? Did they do a pressure test? Trust me you don't need a whole F1 system just relax.
Yep...that was the 1st thing they did was the relay but it didnt work. Fingers crossed that 360 accumulator works like a charm : )
If you have any questions talk to tr512 above he just did his and I'm sure it's fresh in. His head. He's right there is an extremely high likelihood it will cost less than a set of custom wheels.
Once again daniel and ricambi to the rescue. ps. my transmission shaft showed up in indio, thanks. If your bored you can fly down in November and help me put it in. Lol
Found this to be REALLY helpful in the Technical section: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/348-355/302088-360-f1-pump-install-355-a.html This site is friggin amazing!
The accumulator does not fit from the 360...See attached pictures. The neck is too big and hits the fitting on the valve block. Ricambi is looking to find a fitting to resolve this Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'd love to see how this is resolved as I am also in need of an accumulator and my shop can't seem to find one anywhere. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
I'm not an expert on how these things work, but mine seems to have a malfunctioning valve or something and doesn't hold pressure correctly. I have a 360 pump and my f1 light still flashes 8 or 9 times on startup. Also, right after shutdown, you can hear a 'spinning' noise, which I assume is fluid from the accumulator spinning the pump as it drains. No leaks or anything, and I actually had my car on the track last weekend and it performed very well.
