It may have been more spectacular, but certainly not much more, and the Countach didn't come anywhere near to being as beautiful as the Miura SV. :)

True. I should say the Countach was more striking, or outrageous. At any rate, it caused several Miura SV owners in those days to promptly forget about their Miuras. Nowadays the Miura SV is better appreciated for its beauty.

Yes, the Countach was outrageous and to this day is still the most visually stunning car ever made. The Prototype was just fantastic!!!

    I can't wait til the 60th.

My son will 16 and driving age!

I'll make sure I have 3 lambos ready to go in 10 years.

That way I can drive one (hopefully Miura) my son in his Countach and momma in whatever lambo she chooses. She's eyeing one right now that we might buy in the very near future.

    YIKES!

I have an interesting Miura related question.

    Miura guys please chime in.

If you were in the market for LOH's example what's the max you would pay for the car.

In other words what would be a non insulting offer.

I know it's a P400 with SV mods. I thought it was an S with SV mods but was proven wrong by a member here.

I was told it was worth a max of 500k but could be a 700k car if they took it back to P400 standards.

Why would anyone spend that type of money making that car an SV spec then devalue it by 200k by making is supposedly better.

I know of two buyers that passed on the car because of what I stated above.

I sent an Ebay message to them asking about the front suspension. No reply. Someone must have removed the original parts and a set of "re engineered" paprts fabricated. A nice job never the less but not even close to original. Pics of the rear didn't show those parts. due to the fact that a number of "upgrades" have been done I'd ask a few questions before making any substantial offers on this one.

The car was sold for $781,000 in January by RM Auctions. See link below. What's the LOH asking price? It has BF Goodrich Comp TA tyres on it. Would these have the speed rating required of a Miura?

Rumor at the car show was not a "dime under 975k"

An amateur historian told me that max would be 500k.

Did someone hose LOH into buying that for 781k?

They always have some type of funky story on vintage lambos they've bought at auction.

They claim not to know anything.

That's why I never believe anything they say.

Even the RM auction was calling this an S which is what I though it was originally.

Joe please chime in you seem to know quite a bit about this car.

    Thanks.

Leo, I was thinking of another car, so it appears I misspoke without checking chassis numbers: "3952" is indeed an early P400S, originally fitted with engine #2871, noted on the factory Registro as prod. #337. It was completed at Sant Agata on the 6th of March 1969.

I think the issue of the suspension etc is addressed in the RM catalog text as printed by themselves:

"As evidenced by historical documents, this Miura was owned by race car driver Ted Titmus from Southern California in the early-1980s. It was brought to Bill DeCar, of Bill’s Body Shop in the Los Angeles area, for a complete restoration at that time. During this period, DeCar was asked to fabricate a GT40-style nose treatment, which was installed, as well as to fit a racing suspension and brakes, dramatically improving the handling, adjustability, and stopping power of the car. But, after a time, the car languished in his shop and, years later, Bill DeCar bought the car for himself. Alas, once again, the car was never completely finished during his ownership."

I should state that I helped facilitate 3952's sale from Bill DeCarr after coming across it in his possession circa 2005.

Below is a picture taken by myself of 3952 in Bill DeCarr's garage circa 2005. The car was black, featured the GT40 front headlight treatment, and an SV rear end copied off 5110 when it was in DeCarr's shop for accident repairs circa 1991 (as relayed to me by DeCarr).

Hope this helps because its all I know about this car.

One of my offshore fishing buddies expressed interest during the show and asked my opinion.

I told him I believe it to be an S then he whispered in my ear that they said 975k.

He did have a couple of glasses of wine in him when he told me that number.

I'm like ouch that seems a little high, but after seeing what was paid for it at RM I guess with the juice and a little profit for LOH the price doesn't seem out of line.

The only thing I would question is that $781k that LOH paid to have it a real number.

As always, thanks for sharing Joe.

    No reserves on both.

That guy is about to burn someone for 1/2 mil if those two sell and he collects the money.

Someone needs to report this to eBay and have this guy checked out.

By the way have you seen the item he bought?

While looking at the Miura SV #5028 at the museum in Dosso, it was noticed that there is something different to this car. Does anybody know why this modification was done, and is this car the only SV that has it? Looking at many pictures it seems so ...

The hose from this part is going to the chassis at 'standard' cars.
On #5028 however, it parts at the other side, splits, and heads into the air filters.
Since the chassismember is closed (although having a 'pressed' circle) this must have been done at the factory, not after ?

I hope the pictures explain what I mean ...
white car - standard SV - picture and picture with orange ovals indicating where to look
other pictures of #5028 - one with hoses indicated in orange

listing is a SCAM unfortunately...That's our car, 4248, photos taken at Ault Park Concours in 2012.

Here's a similar photo I took that day.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. If anyone has information about the seller, please PM me.

    Such a cool chassis number.

We sold this car some 8 years ago. I recall the car's title showed it was owned by the 'Pepsi Cola Bottling Company'.

Split sump engine number 30693, finished at the works on the 17th of February 1972.

Supplied new via Italian Lamborghini concessionaire Lamborauto, SV chassis "5000" was finished in "Giallo Flay" (yellow) and gold wheels & sills, with "Bleu" (dark blue) leather interior and navy blue velour seat inserts. The car was not fitted with an A/C although a Becker Mexico radio was supplied.

In 1975, the car's second owner drove his 11,000-mile new prize directly home covering an additional distance of 720 miles, then put the car in storage where it remained till 2005.

As you can see, its Italy-registered Brescia plates ("BS.406071") are still affixed and it remains in original condition..

Jasper, on my car EXACTLY the same, have a picture from 1980 where it is already like this, looks like it left the factory this way, anybody can solve this mistery? Joe? Gary Bobileff? Jeff S.? Piet P? anybody? There must be more SV's with this i would think.
