Just discovered this thread by coincidence, but what stunning stories! Just couldn't stop reading this thread from the beginning until the end. Like the stories our fellow Dutchman Kees van Stokkum tells, always listening to him without breathing..... ;0

Thank you, Mr. d'Orey for sharing them with us and please keep up this good work.

    Ciao, E.

Thank you, Mr. Souvlaki for comparing me to the important Ferrari specialist Kees van Stokkum from Italauto.

Last summer I drove my FF 9 thousand km around Europe with my 20 years old son and my 18 years grand-son. We spent a few days in Amsterdam and around the beautiful Holland.

    Ciao,
    Fritz

What a wonderful thread. I stumbled across Cascais last summer, on my way out of Estoril, and it was beautiful.

Muito obrigado, Fritz. But next time you plan a trip to the Northern part of Europe please drop a line when you come to Holland so I can show you a lot of points of interests here. ;)

    Ciao, Erik.

Makes wish I was talking a nice walk from the beach in Estoril along to a tiny sandwich bar in cascais ( behind albatros hotel on the corner just as you reach pedestrian only street) owned by father and daughter, which sells great tuna sandwiches and amazing vegetable croquets.

I hate this photo so much. I wish I was their for a morning stroll tomorrow . !

You are more likely to see a ferrari or ferraris there in Cascais /Estoril than any city, if you could get a table for breakfast on a Sunday at pastelaria garrett in Estoril you would think you are in Monaco for the cars parked or looking for spaces outside.

This not very legible but maybe interesting photo in a Brazilian newspaper shows my first drive in Fangio's Maserati F1 at Modena's track. We had arrived to Europe the day before.
Fangio brought me to Europe and we stayed together for two months before he went back to Argentina. It was fantastic !!!
Was approved for my two F1 races in Europe, France's GP in Reims and GP of England in Aintree.
On the right we can see Louis Chiron and Fangio's face...
Adjusting the rear mirror or something appears the later great Ferrari chief mechanic Giulio Borsari that died few days ago.

In the very nice Lisbon Ferrari dealer with a funny name: SHARK. The roar of a FF and a look around the shop.

Can you believe the progress you have witnessed in cars in general and Ferrari in particular in your lifetime and does your FF give you as much pleasure as say your old TDF? It may be progress but is the experience for the better?

    Hi Ross,

Passed through your city (i.e. London) with the Spider last year on my way to the Ferrari racing days at the Silverstone track, but missed you there apparently..... :)

If you pass through the Amsterdam area, feel free to drop a line for a drink, meal or coffee, ok?

    Ciao, Erik

Thanks for that, I used to go to north out of estoril to the cascais shopping (shopping centre at alcabideche) and past the ferrari dealer there and at the shops i would go upstairs in car park near sports shop entrance where there is good 2/3 view of the circuit estoril, and there was always a touring car or single seater practicing, the sound was amazing.

I don't know much about this, but love this era of racing, edge of your seat driving, sliding around every corner, absolutely amazing to watch.

In 2003 I was lucky enough to ride passenger in my dads friends red F50 on an organised event where the police on bikes and cars were stopping traffic at the lights and 147 ferraris done una veulta of the old Barcelona circuit on montjuic, and then down to the casino in the marina.

Absolutely loved the thrill of the street circuit, but I totally understand the need to reduce both driver and spectator risk.

I had the FF from Geneva's Ferrari dealer Modena Cars, being well assisted by Mr. Pierre Megale. I am traveling around Europe and now am in Portugal. The video I made with my iPhone at Lisbon's Ferrari dealer.
Soon back to Geneva and will let you know.
    Thanks
    Fritz

24 hours of Le Mans 1960: my accident!
No seat belts, no guard-rails, no electronics...
18 days in coma and 8 months in the local hospital.

This photo shows me in the 250GT SWB arriving to Le Mans road track.
Few hours later the SWB in the upper photo.

Oh my, Fritz! I've been using Leicas since my father let me use his Leica IIIa with 50/f2 Summar lens when I was 14 years. I'm past president of the Leica Historical Society of America. I have photos - not digitized - of racing in USA in 1953-4-5-6. Also photos of the 1953 New York Automobile Show when the new Pegaso Z-102b was premiered. The first photo is the bare chassis, engine, drive-train, brakes, suspension and a plastic outline of the car, the second and third, the extremely beautiful blue Touring Superleggera berlinetta, a car I lusted to own or even to drive some day, the fourth and fifth the lovely, graceful white spyder - with beautiful young woman, what can be her age today?! - and the sixth, the "El Dominicano" berlinetta produced for El Jefe, Rafael Trujillo, dictator of the Dominican Republic from where my former wife's family comes.

What interesting fun! P.S. the Photographs are copyrighted - Seth Rosner
