Nick- Did not think red brake calipers were optional until 1999 or so, but could be wrong. Definitely some funny stuff with the history.

The Daytona seat pattern is incorrect on it as well. You would think for $4000 they would get that detail right.

A free theft/salvage check can be done at https://www.nicb.org/theft_and_fraud_awareness/vincheck

This one shows that Carfax says it was a total loss in 12/1997. It is interesting that he shows the CA title in the ad which does not show the salvage branding (it would be in the red box).

Well, he has updated the ad to include a copy of the Carfax which does say that the salvage title was a clerical error. I'd still proceed with caution but it may be just fine.

    OK Good to know.
I had a PPI done on the car. The car definitely was hit and most likely a total loss like the original carfax showed.
Its even listed on the NICB site which is comprised of insurance companies.
He is showing a clean CA title but it must of been washed when the car was in WI.
Car was reported with total loss on 12/11/97 and a duplicate title was issued on 10/29/2001 most likley after repairs were made.
This is the same seller I was dealing with and I tend to believe he had no idea the car was totaled since he most likely was given a clean WI title when he bought the car.

    This ad is blatant.

"THIS FERRARI HAS A CLEAR TITLE AND HAS NO HISTORY OF SALVAGE OR ANYTHING ELSE! EBAY'S SYSTEM IS INCORRECT. YOU CAN RUN THE CAR FAX REPORT YOURSELF AND SEE AND I'M PASTING IT BELOW. IT CLEARLY SAYS THERE IS ZERO NEGATIVE HISTORY."

Turns out the Scaglietti options, including FHP, modular wheels and red calipers, became available in the Winter 97/98 timeframe.
