Miura, the original supercar

I belive Sweden had the same emission regulations, with "closed" crankcase ventation system.

 

So, are there any (pictures of) other cars (be them US, Swiss, Swedish or ANY country) having this modification ? Please post them ?

JasperLambo, when did you take the photo? Curious... I saw #4856 a few months ago and it had chrome side mirrors on it. The black ones do look a little better imo.

More about #4856.. as Joe mentioned, the owner believes this to be the Miura SV Prototype. (while others in Italia do not agree)

Joe, I think you are mistaken here... #4856 was born a P400, but not as #3745.

 

No problem sharing. Every number stamped piece of that miura has "157" on it... and as I am sure you can guess, this was particularly interesting to me. The only exception to this was the rear bonnet, it was stamped with a later number. No idea why the rivet tag has "450" on it.

Can you please post photos of original condition Miuras? You mentioned that you have sold a couple.. can you share the photos with us? This would be a great resource for those of us working to clean up our miuras and make them right.

 

Hi Andrew. today, 30th april 2013, 15.14 local time in Sant'Agata. The car is 'here' since at least a week or so? caught it on video on the 24th also ...

 

After another Gandini interview today, I can close my research regarding the design of the Miura. It definitely is Gandini's whatever people think or say.

One day I hope to reveal all the details, starting with the pre-torino 65 period, going along the designs of the Porsche, Jaguar and Miura made between October 65 and March 66 with the numbers, dates and names of the collaborators of the designs made during the creation process of each car and finishing with the search sequence of all the details.

Joe, you say my article on the Miura was short on information (luckily you say). I agree but just now I can tell you that at the last moment there were a number of contradictions that still had to be solved, what I did during the last year. This was also the reason why the original Miura designs were not disclosed integrally.

I know I'm considered as a negative person (Joe) or as the 'élu' (Olivier) in this community but a compliment as the one in annex is worth more to me than whatever comment.

Joe, I did not say you were hoarding anything. I am just politely asking you (the guy that wrote the bible should have plenty of this sort of stuff) to post some original configuration Miura photos.

In recent years, the only such photos I have seen are of 3216. However, people talk about original Miuras here and there... let's see them. I am no Miura expert, but I have had the privilege of seeing good ones in years past.. but unfortunately I was not interested in Miuras at the time, so I did not photo the details for reference for my future car.


And of course, no problem seeing photos of my car. It is in the process of getting cleaned up, and misc items fixed, etc. But I will post some.

 

On Joes web site also look up 3598.

are the speakers placement in the sides of the center console tunnel stock locations?

 

Here is the area I am working on now.. cleaning up the interior, and fixing this and that. The steering wheel just came back from being re-done. The ceiling center tunnel... the oval air vents, should there be a grommet or something in there? Or is the material just glued into the oval holes?

Joe, is the topic of original configuration Miuras taboo or something? With the exception of 3216, I have not seen detail photos from any other "original" Miuras. The reason I am asking you specifically is because you have talked about original / correct Miuras.. ones you had sold, etc... So just asking to see. I don't see what the big secret is? As you mentioned, I would like to do things right the first time, and not do it over. I can certainly post photos along the way, which is fine.. but then I am trusting chat room opinion - which is fine is some cases, and flawed in other cases... I would rather consider photos of original Miuras (if they exist) in making decisions on my car.

I guess that if the only detail photo'd original/correct Miura is 3216, I am out of luck. But if there is another photo'd in detail Miura that is correct like that, I would love to see it! Anyone?

You already have my photos. It may be impossible to top 3216 for originality. However that car is not the best baseline for your car. There are many production changes between the two. Looking at the photos of your car, it appears to be very original. I would like to see more photos of your car since it appears to be a good reference point for a P400S.
