1st, tell us - is the F1 pump still running? I would say that the pump, fluid level & the relay would be 1st batch on my list to check & confirm.

Better to do some real diagnosis work instead!

Most common problem is the rear deck switch to be faulty, easily bypassed. If not that, follow a few checks as mentioned.

Brian is correct. I personally just see more pump failures than lid switches.

    Again correct.

I have a box full of them Tim (just the motor, not the pump). Each one dead-dead. Ten years of them. Actually there is one in there that was replaced for preventative maintenance.... Off my own F1 system. Want one?

Edit: I think I must be painting with too wide of a brush for you & Brian. I am meaning "pump motor" when I state "pump," which is why I posted that video above outlining just that. I have never replaced a complete pump unit as its an unnecessary expense for my customers when I can simply swap the motor. That's the way we have been doing things since 1977.

I am still betting on this cars issue being a pump motor. I can't wait to hear the result or final diagnosis.

You let the pump motor continue to run on after you left the car? Umm, the car has a battery disconnect switch.

Sounds like the relay stuck on and possibly damaging the pump. It gave you good warning of the problem and you ignored it.

    Marko ---

You Sir are a true gentleman :) To handle such a rude and condescending comment (as Motob's) with such politeness and humility really shows a great deal of class ---- thank you.

No, its easy. And readily available. The relay is located behind a small panel attached by small screws right behind your passenger seat. You cant miss the relay once the panel is off. I carry a spare in my personal car just for this occasion.

You can tackle the pump motor swap yourself my man. Look to that link I supplied earlier. Have Juri sell you a motor (he can ship you one semi-fast). Follow his simple video and viola you replaced your pump.

I only fear that the dealership may want to replace, and then bleed the whole hydraulic system. Not that this would be a bad thing, albeit expensive... Sure wish I was closer.

Nevertheless. You have done well, asked good questions & should be happy with your personal due-diligence.
