Sunday 21 JUL 2013: 10th Annual Unobtainium Supply Ferrari BBQ

This is a head's up so you can mark your calendars!!!

Enjoy a drive thru twisty scenic back-roads in north-central MA to Groton. Then visit with fellow Ferrari owners & their spouses/significant others & enjoy some of the best BBQ & other food you've ever eaten. Unobtainium Supply will be exhibiting their newest reproduction Ferrari parts of course.

DATE & TIME:
Sunday, 21 JULY 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM.
It'll be OK to arrive early, but you may get put to work setting up or watching something cook ;^)

I'm in for set up help as usual! But this year I promise I won't show up a day early in a broken Triumph

 

At least it didn't stay for 3 months the way the previous broken arrival did!

 

Unfortunately, this one I won't be able to make - my father's big 6-0 celebration is this week, and I'm headed south....Brother Badman has the grill. Perhaps he can cook in my stead?

 

I don't see any problem with Badman cooking the ribs and brisket but keep him away from the chicken.

 

Yeah, I've got the grill. I'm terrified to step into Ribman's shoes though!

 

I'm still playing with my schedule....stay tuned.

Mike aka the Ribman is cooking the ribs? Excellent!!

He's the best at cooking them. The BEST i tell yah.

No offense to Badman. He cooks a good burger.

You do NOT have to bring anything but yourself, but historically people have insisted on contributing.

- Wine: Maybe 1 bottle each of a blush and/or Chardonnay - something the ladies will like.- tbd
SNACKS: (Need these here by 1:00)
- Chips, Salsa, Dip(s), Crudités, cheese chunks, other nibbles – tbd, tbd…
ENTREE: Serving will start at 1:30.
- Cornbread - Anyone have a great recipe? How about some Jalapino corn bread this time(I can supply a recipe)? - tbd
- Sandwich bread -Need a loaf each of white & whole wheat - tbd
- Potato Salad - About 3lbs. - tbd
- Cole Slaw - about 2 lbs – tbd
(BTW, Col. Sanders makes a very good cole slaw, but if you have a secret recipe & want to make it...)
- Feel free to volunteer something.

-Ribs: Ribman (Michael James): Cooking & carving the ribs (I'll supply the ribs).
-Pinto Beans - I will make up a big pot.
CONDIMENTS:
-BBQ Sauce - Verell will supply an assortment of bottles: 1 sweet, 1 tangy, & 1 spicey, If you have a favorite sauce, bring it & share.
- Thin Sliced 2 large sweet (eg: Videlia) onions for sandwiches - Verell
- Sliced Jalapeno peppers, dill pickles, other - Verell

DESSERTS:
- Paper plates, Utensils, & tablecloths - I have plenty, mostly Ferrari Red ;^)
CLEANUP/PICKUP VOLUNTEERS: (Need 3-4 people to stay on, figure about an hour).

The Unobtainium Supply BBQ is a private event, admission is at the sole discretion of Unobtainium Supply Co. & Verell Boaen. We reserve the right to refuse entry to, or eject, anyone for any reason, including but not limited to: one who is in possession of any weapons, illegal substances or, in our reasonable opinion, might risk the safety of any other visitor or his/her self, might affect the enjoyment of the event for other visitors, or the running of the event (for example if the visitor appears to be intoxicated, under the influence of drugs, or is acting aggressively or anti-socially).

Geez, how much did I bring?

 

I'm a little concerned on this. I was going to bring my wife and son but seems like its a rowdy gathering. Weapons, illegal substances, intoxication, under the influence of drugs and aggressively behavior. Is this for real?

 

Just text from my legal advisor, none of the above have ever been an issue. It's just to make sure it's clear that I have the right to act to ensure it never does. You'll find similar 'fine print' associated with similar events if you look closely enough. Often printed on the back of tickets.

Not in the least. It's always been a calm, respectful, family friendly event. I brought my six year old last year and he enjoyed it thoroughly. I believe Verell just wants to make sure everybody understands that it should stay that way, and he won't put up with any nonsense.

 

It's a good thing Tom our very own lawman is there when we need quick legal assistance/advice.

He's da man.

 

Yeah that is just a CYA statement. I have been the last 2 years, the 1st year I brought my kids and we had a very good time. Verell's wife was a doll with them as well. And Verell is a great host.

I am not 100% I can make this year's event.

 

I'm going to pass. Maybe next time.

Sunday I'll pull together a revised 'coordination list' & headcount.

If you're coming, I really would like to know by 5:00 PM on Monday (new meat order deadline from my butcher).

 

We live in Sudbury and go to Groton all the time to Gibbert Grill and Filo's. driving our 458 on Grotons winding country roads are a treat. While we don't know each other I'd like to come to the cookout with my wife. Are you open to meeting some new F car enthusiasts from nearby Sudbury?
