Boy did it. I am a bit surprised. Definitely a 308. Hopefully the injuries were not too serious.

Scary, but yes, looks like the 308 protected the occupants, which is ultimately all that matters.

I had a bad accident in a Fiat X1/9 in college -- I think these tubular frame cars were pretty good for their era.

Sad to see another otherwise beautiful 308 lost. Best wishes go out to its occupants.
Not so sure it had much to do with crash design, rather them being very very lucky in escaping serious injury (hopefully), IMHO.

Crazy kids in their souped up Grand Marquis. Probably hopped up on meth after putting on that vinyl roof appliqué. Total menace.

Looks like the F car driver is at fault, notice original impact location with car pieces and brake marks on he the road in pic #1. Always wondered what protection, old seat belts/no airbag, would provide (beat up but alive). Nice wax job though.

I hope everyone was ok. That is actually pretty encouraging, seeing how well that 308 held up in a hit with a full-size, heavy car. Thank heavens it wasn't a pickup though. I still get a little nervous being surrounded by stock trucks and SUVs, let alone the jacked up idiots we have around here. That's the main reason I don't drive my car to work much.

Holy moly, I've never seen a 308 hit like that. Amazing that the occupant cabin appears completely intact so much that the doors open and close. Really does show how well the 308 is built!

+1. Looks like a Euro version which normally has less substantial bumpers.

Think its a 328 - its got (had) vents across the bonnet.

Driver's seat seems to be reclined right back -maybe a tall guy? Driver got a head injury - hit his head on the top of the windscreen I expect. :(

    Hope he's OK

There are other photos on the page. It's clearly a 308 from other angles.

Of course. Someone commented that saw him in the ER and seemed to suggest his injuries weren't significant. Fortunately sounds like the driver will be fine.

I'm not sold on this "precieved" crash protection. I remember seeing pictures of Brett Michaels crashed 308, front impact, messed him up pretty good if I recall, 4+ months in the hospital, broken leg(s)? among other things. Also remember seeing another 308 that connected with a break away street light... Driver didn't make it. Just saying... Don't assume anything, stay on the defensive.

I think it's a 308 QV not a 328, look at the rear black bumper and the wheel but, just the same it's horrible and sad.

It is a 308 - you can see the wing vents in the driver's side front wing in the head on picture.

Sad as you say but hopefully the driver is OK.

As much as I do sincerely hope any injuries from this crash heal up quickly and completely, it looks like the 308 was out of its lane going around a corner. I won't make any assumptions, maybe that wasn't the case, but I wish people would drive within their car's and their own limits. As for the whole crash protection thing, the rigidity of the frame in the middle tends to help, but I highly doubt anything about the 308 was built with much safety in mind. Especially the Euro version, which this appears to be. There's definitely a lot of ways to kill yourself in these little cars and I'm not planning to push my luck to find out anytime soon.

I am not sure why I labeled it a 328. Guess because I have been looking for one.

LOL, not trying to pick on anyone here, but I've gone back to that page thinking I was missing something . . . but IMHO there simply is no indication of what actually happened here, nor who was at fault.

If I were to interject my own "assumption," I would guess that the Ferrari was actually traveling toward the camera in the first pic, and that the skid mark visible in the third image may have been left by the land yacht. The Grand Marquis may have rolled and floated across the center line going around the turn.

I seriously doubt the two cars simply stopped dead in their tracks after that impact.

One thing is certain, one or both of those cars were traveling at high speed.

I'm not sure speed was a factor. Looks to me as if one of the vehicles simply drifted into the other lane, land yacht traveling toward the camera given the impact on the left front corner of the vehicle, nothing more. Ferrari basically getting run over and kicked to the curb, but what would I know... Only owned a body shop for 30 years. / as a side note, it also looks like the left front tire of the Ferrari is driven back into the drivers side footwell. (Not good )

Doesn't look that way to me. Both travelling @ 30-40 mph could easily achieve that damage.
