After my accident in le Mans I stayed in Paris and worked as a photographer with my Leicas (M3 and M2 with Visoflex) and Hasselblad for a few years.
The Pegaso was wonderful and a Portuguese friend had a beautiful one that we travelled from Paris to Lisbon in 1961. I had the pleasure to drive it half way.
I am a Leica, a Macintosh and a Ferrari 'aficionado'. Not in that order...

Thank you Fritz, this thread is a real treat.

Perhaps Rob should consider acknowledging it by bestowing some sort of honorarium.

    Hint hint.

I'm afraid I would have to replace that one, Sir.

And I also agree that two to match, on that end of the car would be "the best".
A small price to pay for the safety of yourself and the car!

I tend to drive my tires to the very end, but the Goodyear men, they just shake their heads, as they take them off! :D :D :D

A belated 'welcome" and I am very much enjoying your thoughts on this thread.

    Fritz,

If you look below your name you will note that you have been given an Honorary title for your subscription level. This is what Rob meant by done. It is quite prestigious here. I am not, however, certain what permissions to other forums you may have. Chances are you can get into at least the Silver subforums above if not more.

I am also certain that we can find members to help get you into the Owners Forum if you like.

Again, it is truly an honor to have you here sharing your stories. Thank you!!

    Respectfully,

    Patrick

    Dear Sr. d'Orey,

I have only just discovered this thread and read it all straight off. Thank you for sharing your memories - many people here know much about Ferrari racing but to hear from someone who did it and knew the people involved in one of the golden eras is a great privilege.

I would be very interested to know some more details about the Ferrari drivers of those days. What were their different techniques/styles, which ones were well liked by the team, which ones had a difficult relationship with the team, which ones had a lively confident personality and which didn't? That sort of thing.

Also, on the subject of your FF, (which looks womderful in white by the way) I am considering either an FF or an F12 at some point in the near future. I love Ferraris for their driving experience and performance, which has a completely different feel to other brands. My worry is that the FF is too big and although the 4x4 and four seats is very useful to me, since I will not buy both I feel like I might always wish I took the F12 - after all, Ferrari is about racing heritage and the highest performance. Do you have any advice?

(Sorry to ask you so many questions and please feel free to not answer - you have already provided everyone with a real treat).

Thank you and I am honored by your words.

I do remember with nostalgy the very few years I raced (mainly Ferraris). But it was a fantastic time from 1957 and 1958 in South America and 1959 until July '60 living in Modena, then capital of automobile racing. As time goes by I will write many memories of that time.

    About the FF...
I had the same worry as yours before I drove my FF for the first time. But as soon as we took it to the streets I was amazed how nimble the FF is. In cornering, braking, speeding it was incredible and gave me the impression of a small Ferrari.

Last month a good friend exchanged his F12 for the FF for the week-end and when he gave it back we had the same opinion: the FF was very much similar to the F12 with the advantage of four-four!!

Of course the F12 is very little more fast, nervous etc...but very very little.

Go for the FF!!! You will not regret. It is the best car in the world.

That about says it all! Although I have never been a race driver - especially a legend -
I am lucky enough to be an accomplished duffer on the track with a 360, CS, 430, a Scud, and a tracked out Lotus (also have a 612) over the last 8 years. I and my wife drove the FF from FFL a few weeks ago - and we are still talking about it - we will definitely have 1 within a year or so (or sooner if I can talk my wife into getting one without getting rid of a car - I am getting attached to my cars in my older age because they are drop dead beautiful and they all have personal & family stories attached to them - we track as a family - my 23 yr old daughter can beat or keep up with just about any non professional driver.
Getting back to the FF - I think it is the most unique Ferrari ever built. Rock stable handling in a 4x4 that does under 4 in the 0-62 - what a beast in disguise

Yes "a beast in disguise" but a very sweet beast. So agreable to drive and travel in any kind of road and in any weather...

As more people drives it, the FF will begin to sell really very well and as the quality is so high more people in the used market will discover this fantastic Ferrari FF.

Mine has 28K km and 11 months of everyday use and not a single problem of any kind.

Once I drove it to 334km/h and my wife loves to drive it and goes everywhere alone with our FF.

Congratulations for FERRARI for offering such a marvelous automobile!!!

Here's my Ferrari FF in Berlin. A photo I took from my hotel room window at the Adlon Kempinski.
