hi , I need a set new brake disc on my 2002 456mgt. Does anybody know if I could use 550m drilled discs? I'm a bit confused , sometimes I read 315mm front disc, sometimes 330mm Thanks for help Daniel
Daniel- You can go to ferraridatabase.com and download a 456M workshop manual and an expanded electrical section. It will tell you the 456M rotors are 330 x 32 mm F and 310 x 28 mm R, same as the 550/575M. The 456 has 315 x 32 mm F and 310 x 28 mm R rotors.
Also, starting in 2002, 456M's had drilled brakes, which are the same as the 550 brakes. So, you could order the correct 456M parts, just the drilled ones of 2002/2003. Cheers, George
I recommend you go to formuladynamics.com before you do anything else. For far less than stock replacements, you can get drilled AND SLOTTED front rotors and drilled rear rotors. Further more, the slots and holes are beveled (countersunk) to reduce pad wear. They also sell brake pads for street use that have NO DUST and no noise that I've ever heard. Great service and, no, I have no connection with them whatsoever, just a happy customer. Thanks. Just passing along the info. At $147.50/rotor, and 2 lbs lighter than stock, they seem like a pretty good value.
I think the price is 295 each, not per pair While we are on the subject, I'd like to know if the 550/575 calipers are the same- I know there have been threads discussing adding Fiorano package brakes to the 456 That seems like a happy idea to me...
You may be right; it hasn't been that long since I got mine, but I've had a lot of big ticket items in between, so my memory may have slipped. Wishful thinking I guess.
Upgrading the rotors from the 456 GT to the M/550/575 requires also upgrading the front calipers or not?
