I'm guessing most of you know the Bill Cosby car is a starter on ebay at $37500.
I'm not a fan of that color. I'd change it to deep blue or black in a heartbeat. I don't believe the Cosby connection will improve it's marketability. I would rate it as a no factor. It only has value to Bill Cosby collectors.
Can't find the listing. I'd rather have his Cobra;[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-JQksYxgM0]Bill Cosby 200MPH - YouTube[/ame]
hmmm, that's an 'unfortunate' shade of Brown...that's really, well, Brown...it's too bad it's so, so Brown...that's a lot of Brown right there...is it just me or is that really Brown ? that's a lot of car though...but it's also a lot of Brown.
Good day All, I saw this car the other day, but did not have the time to grab all the photos and document it (I usually do this on the weekends)... That being said, the listing is here: Ferrari : Other 2+2 in Ferrari | eBay Motors As for the color... I decided to call if Fudgesicle Brown to keep the description pleasant To me I would have preferred that the car been left more natural/original than what appears to has been done: a. exterior paint looks as if it was done quickly (one of the pics shows whee the paint is peeling under the front bonnet, etc) b. A number of the suspension pieces look to have been spray painted and/or painted all over ... nuts, threads, etc. c. the heat shields above the exhaust canisters look a little too bright/new given the car's age d. Interior looks quite decent. The only issues I see are the missing leather "caps" on the door side panels which cover access to the window motors. Secondly, there is a stereo equalizer mounted on or in the front console. If attached via tape, etc no big deal, but if it has been cut then this would be unfortunate. e. Added squared side markers lights front/rear and the speedo change to Miles... would imply Federalization and/or DOT modifications. The engine bay looks reasonable as do a number of other parts (i.e. glass, wheels, exhaust, etc) I did ask the seller for a description of the last services and what was done, but this particular part of my question was not responded to... although it could have been a simple oversight. What makes me a little nervous are the paint and suspension treatments... which are indicative of someone's (lower standard of) work... The second issue is the lack of info, response, etc of the mechanicals. It could be a decent old car needing some TLC, or it could be a car needing alot of TLC and/or restoration (sympathetic, full, etc)... Sadly, the only way to know for sure would be a physical inspection, etc. Cheers, Sam Image Unavailable, Please Login
a few things that I noted: no Prancing Horse on front grill external mirrors: no comment... wheel nuts... central console... re-designed (low end) ? GTC4 book... toolkit bag not the original (at least, not the Italian one) does not look like a stainless steel exhaust... $$$$
OK, I'll bite. Besides the puppy sh t brown, what's wrong? I'd say some of Sam's comments are correct based on the pictures but I suspect that it is better than he thinks and it looks like an nice package overall. Vecchio59 has a list and I'm not sure it makes sense: 1. No horse on the grill - there isn't supposed to be one. 2. External mirrors were a dealer add on. 3. What do you see wrong with the wheel nuts? 4. I didn't notice anything wrong with the center console, what did you notice? 5. GTC books would be correct for an early car, which, I believe, this is. 6. Didn't see a toolbag but you might be right on the jack bag. 7. It looks like a good original ANSA exhaust, which makes the best sound and costs as much or more than a stainless system. If we're going to pick it apart, I'd love to hear firsthand opinions. If I wasn't buying land and repainting my old bomb, I'd seriously consider this car. Regards, Art S.
Me too,though..... I thought the 'nuts' were supposed to be spinners, never seen one with those things.Perhaps it's a USA 'safety' issue. Centre con, looks like BC had an equaliser added to the stereo, are the window switches in the correct position? Having a look at the suspension,I agree with Sam,some of the suspension bushes have been sprayed along with the arms...erk!
Good day Art, Indeed, the car very well may be a nice old car in need of some TLC and you are quite correct that only a first hand physical inspection would put some questions and/or uncertainties to rest. For me I could not live with this car's color and so I would be looking at paint/body work. While doing this I would no doubt deal with the suspension paint and probably re-do the suspension rubber too (most likely originals), probably new tires,...and so on and so on... Thus I would end up doing some form of a restoration. Given a few other cars that are for sale and start at $14K+ more, I ask myself if spending $14K on this car (assuming the sale price was $37.5K) would bring it up to the level of the other cars? I would say no... and thus makes my decision. If I had the time and was interested in taking on a resto project, then I think this car would be an excellent candidate given its "bones". Cheers, Sam
A few days ago, I had the chance to talk for more than one hour with a very Ferrari specialist, an old owner of a 365 and now an officer of an official Ferrari Owners Club... great experience, he looked at all details of my F365 and helped me a lot in the (long...) process of restoration and (I hope) final certification by Automotoclub Storico Italiano (ASI). Based on that + some documentation I have + some pics of my car, here is my humble contribution to the discussion; I'll welcome all thoughts, comments, suggestion, etc etc !!! 1) Horse on the grill: this is a must, the car was designed with that... see 1586 (a poster made when the 365 was launched) + 1345 (yes, my girl) 2) mirror: the car was born without any mirror, wasn't required by the italian law in the 70's... then, everybody added their own choice afterward. ASI recommendation is to install a replica (the original is hard to find) of the Pininfarina chrome 3) wheel nuts: dn't know of any special US regulation, the original are wing nuts (hope the term is right !), see 1350 & 1351 4) console: diffcult to see details from pictures, it looks cut while it was declining towards the rear end... 8352 5) toolbag: mine (1335) has been recognized as original. also, there was the small beautycase on the fifth wheel (1603/1602) As said, I hope this helps... that guy has been a goldmine for me and I'll be pleased to pass any question on to him (at least, I can try !) I was very interested in this car and I coordinated with the seller to deliver it to a local European car garage for a compression and leakdown test. Six cylinders with 25% leakdown, several at 90psi compression and none over 130psi. A bargain at half the price, but the new owner would be seriously upside down at the opening bid. Unfortunate.
Beautiful car Vecchio! Looks like it's no longer on Ebay as of yesterday - I understand original color was red. What should compression be? I noticed fire extinguishers mounted in some of these cars - Any specific reason to mount one in a 400 as opposed to other cars? I noted some guys mount these in a few Mercedes Diesels (W123)in case of electric fires - seemed unnecessary to me.
Re the extinguisher,I'm not sure what your track day rules and regs are,but in Aussie,if you do any type of track work, mainly with the club(that can be any type of car club that is Cams affiliated),then part of the deal is you have an extiguisher MOUNTED in the car.
Thanks Akjim for the compression info & thanks Simon for the fire ext. info - Would like to seek those type events out - had the drvrs seat repaired beautifully (may wait to dye it looks so good) received my 5 x new tires from Longstone Tyres today - in for some paint/rust work next week I think - she's running fabulously.
Good day All, 17907 is back on Ebay with a starting bid of $15K with a Reserve. Interestingly, it is now listed by a different Ebay seller (dc19661) who has 100% feedback, as opposed to the first seller, kcinternational84, with 92.9%. The phone number listed in the auction is the same as the first seller, so it is the same seller. Ferrari : Other in Ferrari | eBay Motors Cheers, Sam
In Aussie, and I would have thought it similar elswhere, the track day is one of the most sought after events in the Ferrari club. If you are a member of a club, mind you it doesn't have to be a Ferrari club, any car club in your area that does track work would do,mind you I personally WOUDN'T join a drift club!
Good day All, Just checked... the car looks like it will be selling... Bid is $36K and the reserve is met... I guess we shall see how this auction concludes in another 12 hours or so... Interestingly... the last auction had 0 bids at virtually the same price as now and so I am curious why the interest now? Cheers, Sam
