I don't know how to transfer info from email to AV-Chat so I'll do it by hand. This info is from a Boeing guy in training with the NTSB and got this data from one of the investigators.

The CVR/FDR stopped working on rotation.
There were fuselage, engine, and tail parts left on the runway.
There were 7 MRAP armored vehicles on board.
They took on 48,000 pounds of fuel at Bagram.
Five of the vehicles were huge and had 5 foot diameter wheels that didn't fit the chocks on board.
The five vehicles weighed 33 metric tons EACH.
Pallet straps were not strong enough to restrain 72,000 lbs.
The 280,000 lb. floor load limit was exceeded by 90,000 lbs.
One MRAP dug a crater deeper than any of the airplane wreckage.
If one of the MRAPS broke through the pressure bulkhead it would have wiped out most if not all of the 4 hydraulic systems.

Assumptions are that the load broke loose and shifted aft on or before rotation.

    Thanks, Bob...

That is absolutely terrible... to do that to that crew.

I'm guessing the loadmaster is in deep, deep trouble.

Am I correct, that they'd already done one T/O and landing before this with that load?

MRAPS do not weigh that much. Thus the whole post is questionable. There was a variation of that post in Silver where it stated that these big tires jumped the chocks.lol Chocks do not hole the vehicle in any way.

I really hope it wasn't a Boeing guy who made those statements.

This information was passed on from NTSB source to the Boeing guy. I only repeated what was sent to me. It'll be interesting to read the final report.

MRAP II weighs 30 tons per wikipedia. I think that they are implying that the vehicles were able to move because the chocks had no effect to stop them. I think that it all goes back to the restraints.

From my experience moving rolling stock..... Chocks mean nothing. Restraint is applied by the straps and chains used to secure the load.

If I recall correctly, the FDR and CVR sit just past the main cargo door. Exposed on a rack on the left side of the aircraft. The fact they stopped working at rotation is interesting. Possibly a load shifted into them and severed power to them. Obviously they're designed to absord a tremedous G load, but what if they lose electrical power?

    Any thoughts?

I'm flying to Tokyo in the early AM and will try and check the location. Will post some pics tomorrow night....

Wasn't the loadmaster one of the (7) crew members?
