I love the stripes. I wonder what would it look like in Golden Yellow Chrome color body with Black stripes. ^_^
maybe... no other info as of now except: name has chances of being either 458 trofeo or competitizione they like trofeo but have reservations that it is too close to the maserati trofeo, we shall see in frankfurt in september... exhaust pipes will be high placed dual pipes as in the 430 scuderia (disappointing imho as one of the main reasons i bought the car was for the triple exhaust layout) they are encountering challenges because the 458 italia is already so perfect design and engineering wise and the 458 scud has to be superior the engine is easy to upgrade with revised exhaust, intakes, ecu, etc.. but the body styling mods are their main challenge right now they have another 4 months until frankfurt tic toc...
as for 458 successor : will arrive in 2017 as a 2018 model, will most probably be either twin turbo v6 or v8, no more normally aspirated engines, they are too 'dirty' for new regs. the 458 spider will receive a similar treatment as the 430 spider (16 m version) and the 458 spider scud will close the production line with a limited production model in 2016 as a MY 2017
You believe it will have the high placed dual pipes now? http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/142267825-post73.html
guys i was looking at 16m or scud what are your thoughts now that new version is coming out , how will it impact the value of the old scuds? im a little scared ..thought thanks in advance
even the 16m? i have seen some up for sale and they still seem very pricey. isnt a limited edition ferrari a fairly good investment when you dont want the big depreciation? the price of the 360 cs seems to stay at a good stand over the last years
very little depreciation on the 430 16m as only 500 (if i am correct) were produced, an under 10K miles 16 can still fetch between 250K - 280K the 430 scuderias depreciate more since they were not a limited production model the 458 scud will most likely not be a limited production model but the 458 spider scud (successor to the 16m) will probably be and consequently be the only collectible member of the 458 family that will retain the most resale value ps can't wait until for the september frankfurt auto show when the 458 scud comes out!!! (PS hope it doesnt have any stripes down the middle and crossing my fingers that they will rethink the dual exhaust thing and put a variant of the tri-tip)
they unfortunately most likely have to go the turbo route, it's the only way to get more hp than 570 from a v8 and still comply with the more and more stringent emission regulations; the biggest concern is to keep the idiosyncratic ferrari signature sound (so prevalent in the 458 model) unadulterated by the 'airy' sound of a twin turbo
The new Maserati V8 turbo doesn't sound half bad, although different in character to the flat crank V8. It is engineered by Ferrari. Mercedes also makes turbo V8s sound decent. I like to think that a turbo Ferrari will still sound like a Ferrari..
Check out Noble M600. That's a mean sounding turbocharged car. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnllC8-8dpw]Noble M600 Amazing Sound - Full Accelerations and Powerslides! - YouTube[/ame] Quite different engine noise signature than the current Ferrai lineup though... Also, they could manage the next emission requirements by KERS/hybrid tech? Some of the La Ferrari R&D must trickle down to lesser models and the most selling mid-engine V8 cars are Ferraris most important...
What does a f40 weigh compared to modern ferraris ? 2400 lbs vs 3200 lbs Huge respect for F40 , probably the only turbo car that i could care for. Modern turbo cars with so much stuff in it is isolating enough , dont need muffled sound on top of it. If you think ferrari can make a v8 twin turbo sound and feel like F40 why not ? Lets see how they can do that on a 3300 lbs car while passing strict safety and emission norms etc
As Formula 1 will switch to a V6 turbo next year, I am sure we will see this technology translate to the Ferrari road cars.
2017 is way too late for the successor. I have heard different information: It will be presented in Geneva in 2016 (that is three years from now!) or even in the autumn of 2015 for first deliveries early 2016. That would mean 7 years in between which makes perfect sense.
realistic time line.... could be geneva 2016, would not give them much time to produce the successor to the 16m though; however the successor to the 16m would have a very limited production number so it would not take too much of a time slot to produce about 500 cars
In the past V8 mid-engine models have had 5 year life cycles, typically with the CS or Scuderia being introduced after 3-3.5 years. That's generally the point at which sales of the new model begin to wane and a facelift/spec increase is needed to boost sales. If one charts the 360 release year, 360cs, 430, 430s, 458 one will see approximately a 5 year pattern.
But in my opinion the MP4-12C sounds really great! I have seen a MP4 live. It's everthing but not quiet! Its sounds very american. I had never thougt that the McLaren has a turbo. For comparison the Porsche 911 Turbo or new BMW M5/M6 sounds ridiculous.
