A shame because they missed an underdog becoming the pole sitter. Incredible.

Any idea how the mightly IMSC managed to have most of their live feed after 6:30 EDT show a interview table instead of what was happening on the track? Even when the showed action on the track the sound was terrible and difficult to understand.

Turns out the interview table was for some past race that Baracello seems to have won.

    What incompetence!

I wouldn't go that far. AJ in a Penske car isn't what I would call an underdog. Good run on his behalf and certainly will give him much needed credibility from his failures of NASCAR. Hopefully he is on the road to recovery as a racer. Kudo's go out to him from me for a solid performance.

Give it a rest. There was a great crowd out there today.

The early morning rain pushed the entire race day schedule off by a couple of hours. The shoot out for the fast Nine was originally scheduled from 4 to 6 or 4:30 to 6:30, I believe.

When the early morning rain pushed everything back, NBCSN rearranged their schedule to pick up the shoot-out live, but were already scheduled to show some of the Preakness stakes at 6:30. So IMS picked up the coverage from 6:30 to 7:00 and showed qualifications on Live Timing & Scoring for that half-hour and then coverage switched back to NBCSN at 7:00pm. It seems to me that they tried to accommodate the fans as best as they could when you consider the weather earlier in the day.

As far as the interview with Rubens, if you click on that site it will bring up older videos. If you wait until they go live you'll see the real time interviews as they are happening. We missed the press conference with Helio, RHR, EJ, Hinch, AJ a couple of others that was apparently pretty funny. We'll check back to catch that one. Also caught the interviews with Marco and Carlos Munoz and another one with Ed Carpenter.

A.J. didn't win the pole. The pole went to Ed Carpenter. I thought you knew everything that was/is going on with IndyCar? (sorry....was that too harsh?)

    cool. I like him.

even if he is an overly connected trust fund kid, he seems to be able to wheel a race car and has made high speed ovals his forte....good for him. I hope he does well in the race.

One more note for you Negative Nellies: It's been 3 1/2 hours since the pole was decided.

Yet, #PoleDay, Ed Carpenter, and #Indy500orBust are still trending on Twitter.

For those of you not on Twitter, that's a big deal....3 1/2 hours later, it's a really big deal.

not sure i follow...unless I'm mistaken, Carpenter is a direct heir of the Hulman family.

Ed's Mother married Tony George when Ed was a little boy and so they married into the Hulman-George family. He is a step-son to Tony George and step-grandson to Mari.

Accepted and loved as part of the family but not an "automatic heir".

Heather is currently raising three kids, follows and gives moral support to Ed's racing team, is the President of Indy Family Foundation, works as a real estate agent, plus as she says "pimps her husband out" to sponsors.

Agree. Great thing for Ed to put his machine on the pole, simply because it puts another name in front of the public who often watch this race even if they are not racing fans so it spreads the base of name recognition for Indy Car drivers among those who only casually follow the sport.

As for pole.......I wasn't following it. I don't watch it. Allmendinger carried it for most of the day. I received calls from friends pertaining to it so I would take it as he received pole later in the day. And speak what ever comments you choose. I have listened to it all and it doesn't faze me a bit.

Of course not. I did not imply Ed was the first or only, but rather racing like it used to be, you know, from your era. Thought you'd appreciate this event.

You state you don't follow it, thus you lack knowledge of actual events. You cannot stop yourself from commenting despite your admitted lack of knowledge. Makes your comments completely irrelevant due to their lack of anything of containing the truth.

As IndyFan stated earlier, just give it a rest already. SMS started this thread for fans of the Indy 500. Sure some back and forth is expected, but the constant drivel of negative serves no purpose other than to show you as a troll to this thread.

Its simple, if you don't like the current IndyCar, put your energy into something else that is more healthy for yourself and it will make this a more enjoyable thread for those that do enjoy IndyCar and the really great season that is happening this year.
