this is a white '67 Shelby big block which had a 427 installed at Shelbys orders so it could be driven by Shelby in a promo film. It is the only one with that stripe combo. they think it might crack $400K

My question is; before there were articles on it in magazines, does anyone remember turning it down as "just another custom?"

If this one, don't recall it as being considered a "custom"; cool car all the same, though ...!

$400K ?? There will be several guys including me in line to buy it for that price. I think you'll see the bidding MUCH higher than that.

This is a one-off prototype car that's very well known in the Shelby world.

400K......yup I'd say that is low. Certain Shelby American team jackets are worth more than a Cobra sold for new.

I'd say there will be a few interested at 7 digits plus....great small block Cobras have passed that number and they are quite plentiful. The Super Snake is a pretty cool piece.

I didn't think it was going to cross the $1,000,000 mark, but boy was I wrong. I wonder if it'll sell for $1.3million (or more) ever again??

    Thanks for that info Tenney!
Terry had a 1967 400HP air roadster (black/black) he tried to sell for ages at 400k. There was another 1967 400HP air roadster that started out Goodwood Green / black and was repainted black available for 160k. 610k is a very strong number for an air car.
A friend still has his 1967 black/blue 435 Corvette coupe he ordered new in 1967. The coupe didn't arrive until March 1967 as it was a replacement model, same spec. The first 1967 coupe he ordered was destroyed in transit before it was even delivered from St. Louis to the dealer!

One of few surprises to the upside at this one, I thought - a real beaut though, and seems at least a couple folks were waiting for their chance at it. Orig. owner 435 Coupe sounds like a great one!

Not an unreasonable fit - though guessing prototypefan may be onto something with the gone north part (sans La).

Definitely coming to Canada. Watch the video on Mecum's home page. The new owner talks briefly about 3 minutes in...

It is definitely up there on the list...

'66 vintage racer owned by Stirling Moss
5R107 that won 1st in GT class at Nurburgring 1000km 1967
    Mark Donohue's BP winning '65
    Pedro Rodriguez' GT350

F1 drivers seemed to like the early GT350s.

Didn't Roy Cats own that car at one time?

I seem to remember him buying it at BJ a few years ago.

I thought it had the SOHC Nascar banned 427 but it appears to be a 427 side oiler and I'm speculating on the side oiler part but Shelby wasn't stupid so I'm sure he used one.
