    The money.

Helio won $3 million for his win in 2009. He won more in one day that Foyt, Rutherford and Bobby Unser made in their long Indianapolis careers.

Helio's smallest ever Indy payday for finishing 9th in 2005 ($277K) was more than AJ Foyt's largest ever Indy payday for winning in '77 ($259K)

Tidbits from Ed Carpenter radio interview this afternoon.

They take so much downforce out for qualifying that mechanical grip is everything. Thus they wear out a set of tires in 4 laps that would last 30+ in race conditions.

Interviewer asked what it was like on the street or walking around at IMS on Sunday after winning the pole. Ed said, "Now I know what it's like to be Danica". :)

And, of course, a driver named "Smith" has still never qualified for the Indianapolis 500.

Depends on the deal with the driver & owner. Some have a contract and get a set salary. Indy 500 drivers used to get a percentage of the winnings as did the chief mechanic. Today, pretty much all get paid a salary and some get a bonus for finishing well.

Kiton is also a sponsor which I found surprising. I'm assuming that is the suit Kiton as I don't know any other company by the name.

Back in my day, the whole team shared 10% of winnings, that broke down with different numbers for Chief, #1, #2 and the rest. I got $2K for winning the pitstop comp! Probably about 45K for bonus in 84.

For Saturday, is there parking inside turn 3 accessed thru gate 10 on the north side? If so, what is the cost of that parking? And will admission tickets (which are $10) be sold there?

What a month so far for rookie Carlos Munos. Qualified today for front row of Indy Lights race. 2 for 2 on front rows this weekend at IMS.

the kid's on a roll for sure.

since you like trivia, how many drivers have competed in the Indy Lights and Indycar race at Indianapolis in the same year?

Saavedra did it last year...beyond that I can't think of any. Bryan Clauson maybe?
