was just playing with the f12 on website when i get to 'further options' and i see that cruise control is an extra cost option. im sorry, but that is totally absurd. ferrari should be ashamed of themselves

they are getting to be like Porsche in that respect in that the options list can make up to 25% of the cars cost

yes, but f12 is a gt car made for long distance trips so cruise control is mandatory. come on, its become standard on economy cars for last 20 yrs!

the rest of the options list is actually reasonable too. mostly interior dress ups with alcantera, etc. nothing else is ridiculous, unlike the porsche options which are almost all necessary for the car to perform

Yea, they play that goofy game to keep the "base price" lower.

I guess it makes their depreciation appear to be less?

It's like a dinner on an a la carte menu. Ferrari will tell you that it offers all these options as a way to allow customers to personalize their Ferraris as they want them and to consider their personal cost-benefit factors.

Having said that, I tend to agree that cruise ought to be in the base for the F12 and FF.

It should remain an option, as many would be horrified by the thought of cruise control in a Ferrari. However, it should be a "no cost" option to add. It is as basic a turn signals in this day and age.

I agree that Ferrari's V12 cars are more like a GT car for long runs than V8 cars, but I wouldn't like to have a cruise control in a Ferrari at all. I also dislike electric seats, for me a Ferrari isn't a hire car - so there is no need for heavy-weight electric seats!

American may have a different attitude than mine.

Might be standard in the US, but in Europe CC is a waste of money. Simply cant use it. I have it in my current car (no extra costs) but have never used it.

That being said many options are ridiculously overcharged.....$20k for some of these special paints. yeah right.

Having cc doesnt bother anyone. Just leave it off. Its like not wanting a defroster. Simply dont turn it on. As for drivong in europe, i recently used it extensively driving from florence to nurburgring on highways very similar to usa. Same with drive rome to positano on autostrada.

You can argue that nobody is forced to use CC, that's right - but I don't like having a CC in any Ferrari anyway because I won't use it, for me CC is one more useless and annoying button. IMO there are some big differences between highway and Autobahn, you can use CC on both but I never use CC on the Autobahn in any of my cars ...

porsche does give cc and some other decent comfort features like climate control, etc. what porsche does charge extra $$$ for are things like sport chrono in order to make the pdk shift properly, s package for extra hp, several suspension options, several stability options, and on and on.

ferrari doesnt make performance optional for the most part (other than the occasional handling package). but optional cruise control still bothers me

I can't stand CC personally. Personally I feel it makes people put even less attention to what they're doing. Not a great thing when you're going at speed...

It's really not nearly as bad as with Ferrari.
Just a few days ago specced the 991 TTS for late Fall delivery (daily driver) and even though I ordered absolutely the kitchen and the sink,my MSRP went from $183k to $204k.
    Relatively reasonable....

Standard on the FF too now I believe. Certainly mine has it and I didn't ask for it.

CC is worth its weight in speeding tickets! Every traffic light I jump on the car until I hit the speed limit, then set the cc. I have other cars that catch up to me after 1/2 mile or so passing me not spotting the radar that I know is coming :D. It is really fun to watch them get pulled over and not me.

When I had the Italia, it was very difficult to keep a steady speed on the interstate. Just the slightest touch of the trottle would jump the car 10 mph, and if the Highway patrol was working it made things uncomfortable.
When I ordered the 458 spider I added the "Pit Speed" option, as they call it. Now if I want to cruise a steady speed I can. Personally I think it should be no cost, but I would rather pay to have it than not.
