First off let me introduce myself. My name is Garrett Hayim. I own Ferrari of Long Island and I am happy to help you. As you know the PPI is critical to purchasing a good older Ferrari because simple failures can be so expensive. So long as you know what work is needed then you can make an educated decision. IT is much like buyin a home. It is ok if the roof is bad so long as you know it and get a credit to fix it.

For a long time we, nor many other dealers performed PPIs but we decided that it was too important and that many of our fellow Ferrari enthusiats were being burned and we decided to offer this service once again.

I am nto sure why you want the PPI done at the selling dealer. I would want as much separation from the seller who has interest in the car being perfect. I am not saying that the dealer will decieve you in any way but independent opinion is very important.

If you would like us to help you let me know. We can arrange for pick up and delivery or you can do the same. Depending on the model of the car and condition, we can often have the car back the same day.

I think you misunderstood the OP. I think he was trying to say that the selling dealer wants the car to stay at their shop. They are not willing to have the vehicle transported. They want the independent inspector to travel to their shop. I'm sure he doesn't want the seller doing the PPI as you suggested. That would be a conflict of interest and basically useless, they have no motivation to find anything wrong.
By the way, when I was shopping for my car I checked your dealership and I was sad to find out that F of LI didn't have what I was looking for. I had to go to another dealership to find the car that I was looking for, and I unfortunately had a less than stellar experience. I did have Calvin Brown from your dealership working on trying to get me what I was looking for, unfortunately there was nothing available. He is a very good salesman and easy to work with and I think you should know that. I had to resolve some issues with the car I did wind up with and dealt with the service department as well. I dealt with Mike Ronan and the detailer Chris. They were both super nice guys and did an awesome job for me. I couldn't have been happier with the treatment that I got. I wanted you to know that since a lot of times you only hear the complaints as an owner. They all deserve credit for the fine job that they are doing.

 

HI there. First Off perhaps I didnt misuderstand. but Dan said. the inspection "should" happen at the dealer. My question to Dan is why wont the dealer let the car go to a reputable shop? Even if it is not us, the seller should not worry about it so long as the car is not released and is given to a reputable shop and the dealer can direct transport. If I were Dan i would push strongly for this. If they do not allow for an inspection to occur in this manner i would worry if I were the buyer. What i am saying is that this is a normal proecedure. It is not an abnormal request.

Second, I am thrilled that you had a wonderful experience after you purchased the car. But i am sorry that we did not have the car you wanted. DO you mind if I ask what kind of car it was? I agree Calvin, Mike and Chris are terrific guys and I really appreciate hearing the positive reviews. You are right, I often hear the complaints but not the accolades..

I wanted a 2002-2004 Rossa Corsa 360 Modena coupe with under 10,000 miles.
I wound up finding a 2004 with 3,500 miles in showroom condition. It was the exact car that I was looking for, but I unfortunately had to travel to purchase it.
I will also check in again with F of LI when its time for my next F car! I wanted a 360 just to get my feet wet with my first Ferrari.
