    430 if you can get by with 2 seats, but to replace the m5 I would go with a 612.

    As you said it was to be a daily driver, I would look at the 575M or the 612. Greater comfort and it is considered by many to be very trouble free.

    Spend half on the car and save the other half for maintenance, repairs, and insurance.

    I always think posts like these are 14 year-olds seeing how many responses they can get. Do people spending six figures on a car truly decide which one based on an Internet thread?

    Research what is available in your price range. Drive some cars. Decide for yourself what one excites you. Read through hundreds of pages in model-specific forums to see problem areas for which to look when shopping.

    It's just not difficult for an honest 165k buyer to drive a variety of cars.

    F430 F1 or 360 6 speed coupe or spider.

    If you were to stretch your budget just a bit, I would suggest a 2008 or 9 F430.

    That may be true, but he may just be looking for the opinions of people who have lived with these cars and experienced them in the real world(not me) rather than a journalist with a few hours experience or a salesman trying to sell a car during a test drive. Of course he could put in some effort and time to do a search, but he may just be looking to narrow down that search a bit before starting. I, too would definitely suggest test driving all the models you are interested in. Of course, he could definitely be 14 and just planning ahead :).

    Fair enough.

    Details help.

    How do you like the M5?
    What other cars driven/owned?
    Any track experience?
    What country? (decimal instead of comma in price: perhaps not US)
    Family?
    Etc etc

    first off, many of the answers lie within these walls.....research through the model specific sections, then give us more info, then test drive some cars, then ask us for more advice - we are quite willing ! ;)

    OP - You will find some "strong" personalities on here as well as a wealth of information. Welcome :) With regard to jumping into exotic car ownership - specifically Ferrari - there are usually some basic questions that you need to ask your self as well as help with people offering advice - to name a few:

    1) Why? What is the motivator for you to go from a highly-respected sport sedan to a Ferrari?
    => Love of the marque?
    => Just always wanted one?
    => Sound/looks/attention?
    => Lifelong goal or recent interest?

    2) You say everyday use - While modern Ferrari's are certainly capable of being daily drivers from a build quality and dependability/confort standpoint, there are weather concerns and location concerns that can make it not quite practical for "everyday use" - for example you can fit a lot more in the trunk and back seat of your M5 than you can anywhere in any Ferrari (save the FF perhaps).

    Just some things to think about - Good luck with the search and knowledge gathering - that is half the fun!

    Makes sense :) Don't know what you do for a living so don't know what clients you are dealing with but it should be noted that arriving in a Ferrari can be perceived both positively and negatively depending on what you do. For example, I have a close friend who is a realtor and pulling up in a Ferrari to people scrapping to buy a home can be problematic. He drives a sedate Honda Accord to business meetings and has a 360 and 328 in his garage :)

    Anyway - I like others would recommend a 430 given the two-seat capability, desire for sound and the budget you are working with. Just my 2 cents - oh, and you can still get a manual tranny :)

    Good luck

    buy a 430 for 125 and bank the rest for insurance, maintenance, repairs. Or consider a 360 for 80k which is the best bang for the buck.

    I have nothing against the 6 speed F430. My feeling is that this car was designed around an F1 system and if you want a 6 speed to row the gears, you can save some money and get a 360 6 speed for pretty much the same feeling.

    Also, 6 speed 430's are very hard to find where 360's are much easier.

    I agree the 360 is the best bang for the buck. It's a terrific bargain.
