    Afternoon All,

I'm interested to know how a Ferrari 400/412 is constructed. It may indeed be a bit of a silly question but hopefully you guys will be able to help me.

Is the shell mounted onto the chassis? If so, would it mean that it can be removed when restoring a car so that essentially you end up with something similar to that below:

Or is everything mounted to the body shell, so that you end up with something similar to what is below?

    Thanks in advance,

The 412/400 construction has a steel chassis and a body (similar to the first set of photographs.) The suspension and drivetrain is attached to the chassis, the body was there to keep the wind & rain off the occupants.

All (road) Ferrari's until the 348 used this type of construction.

Is the body bolted or welded to the chassis? Remember the 400 floor is fiberglass.

Don't worry chaps, nothing like that. Just wanted to know the above as I'm considering a restoration project.
