    Yes, I'm a moron.
I dropped the rear deck piece of my CMC P4
as you can see from the pic, its kind of cock-eyed, and the back upper fascia piece fell off.
I'm not good with fixing stuff like this. There seems to be some model talent on this board.
I'm willing to pay for your time.
I will send it to you with the part that fell off (and pay for return postage) in the original box, plus an agreed fee

    please help!
    thanks!

since I can't now seem to get even a courteous reply from my last several email or PMs, and have confirmed that model was received back to you - via UPS tracker - with all the multiple repairs & touch-ups done for your benefit, for less than my actual time spent on it, inclusive of the $40 shipping back & materials

reimbursement in form of agreed donation send to my friend, information is all contained in emails, PMs and printed note in returned box - and should not need to be chased

    your welcome!

..seems like the old adage that "no good deed goes unpunished" holds true! Certainly hope that there is a good reason, otherwise keep shining the light on this till he does the right thing

we'll see, still not even a single reply in courteous manner in nearly a week, yet can make posts on the forum?

the box arrived with bits falling out, obviously dropped hard, and multiple repairs, tried to get replacement parts from maker (China) but couldn't, even sought out a special bonding glue for the material

I asked he make a minimum donation to Tanya for $200 inclusive of expenses, which isn`t at all unreasonable for the amount of repair and effort put forth

please no Kevin, I don't want to have insulting of Mike in that manner

I'm posting here in the thread he started, because it seems necessary in order to get a reply that should have been already forth coming, and see that reimbursement is made in the manner agreed to

I apologize if this seems aggressive, but with over 12 days since emailed him, and now 5 days since last PM sent, without reply!?

You never know when life can throw you a curve ball. One day I was working on projects around my house, the next day my sister's house in Moore OK was destroyed by a tornado. I have spent the last 10 days trying to salvage what I can from the debris and helping find her a new place to live. Everything on my side (emails, bills, phone calls, etc.) has backed up for now. I am glad to know he contacted you. I am sure he appreciates your help and fine work on his model. ;)

That's very true, and appreciate Mike getting back to me
As some here know, any artwork or scale model builds I do, I ask for a pre-agreement to send payment to a friend who is in need, instead of myself, once the work is completed and returned to them, so I am somewhat casual about it normally
But I have had one dead-beat fchat member from before (for a requested custom artwork) who just stopped communicating, so it's important that I follow through in the case of non-communication, just to make sure the case doesn't repeat itself

Thanks Pete, sadly it did get a bit of a beating, but you can't see it until inspected closely
In some ways repairing a die-cast is harder, just because of the material & delicate pieces, primarily I custom build resin scale models & displays, most I scratch-built as a basis is not otherwise typically available nor adequate
Here's one I'm doing now, is a fully scratch-build (body, wheels, interior, etc) 1/24 of the Vector W2, full detail, open door, engine, etc., as no kits have ever been done of it before?
But vintage Ferrari are my favorites, and a few on the workbench now! :D

That Vector IS impressive - I'd love to see it have a thread of its own, showing progress right through to eventual completion...

While on the topic of GMP P4's, the only problem is mine is that the front body piece refuses to stay on the car. I put it in place, and the slightest jolt anywhere nearby causes the body piece to slide forward and land on the table in front of the car. It seems the retaining pins that are designed to hold the body on the car are too short and have very little engagement.

Does anyone have a quick fix for this?

There are only the two pin locations, if your examples pins are shorter, then I could well see that being a problem

You could try cutting a couple of small double sided tape pieces - get the thin clear tape, not the "carpet" tape - and attach to the underside of the front clip, so the tape contact the small ridge area directly behind the pin hole locations on the body

That would allow you to remove when desired, but give enough adhesion to retain the front clip in place while displayed

You've got great skills! Did you have the wheels 3D printed? I'm looking for 1/18 scale wheels (and tires) as used by Lancia in the seventies/eighties on their group 5 cars. See picture attached. They look fairly simple in design but I can't find the correct donor car. Would you be able to make them for me? Please PM for details. Thanks!

    Best, Peter

p.s. I will give you the recognition you deserve! ;)

    hi Peter

sorry I had not seen this post before now

yes they are 3D designed & printed, the results can't be as well done manually, and the human eye can detect small imperfections in circles, so this is one area where the technology really is a benefit

the right wheels make all the difference in proper look of a scale model IMO

    PM sent
