    Thanks Stephen.

I remember it at Straight 6 in the late 80s too!

There is some thought that this is simply a 1972 SV using the old chassis number & engine number.

The factory did this at least half-a-dozen times in the case of crashed cars or cars that were looking to be upgraded or traded to the newer model.

I have actually seen a factory letter from the Miura production period signed by a prominent factory person soliciting an upgrade and offering the service of returning the car back to the factory in exchange for a new one. All for a small fee of course! The letter was somewhat vague and did not specify if the old chassis would be used. I suspect the factory in that era would rather not elaborate on the exact goings-on and kept it all decidedly behind closed doors.

Yes indeed, the current owner contacted me about a year ago as work was progressing, and my understanding is that the restoration was thorough. To my trained eye, this looks like an SV, plain & simple.

If it's a new SV, and the incoming S wasn't damaged, what did they do with that?

From what I have seen, it seems to have all the correct SV features..

So, eleven (11) Miuras actually participated in the Tour?

    Joe,

How many Miura's do you estimate remain today?
According to Wikipedia, 764 were built, if that's accurate?

About 760 built and personally I'd be surprised if more than a dozen were totally destroyed and not saved. Most remain in whole, in one state or another.

Why I Don?t Drive My Miuras | eBay Motors Blog

"as cool as my Miuras or any other old cars are, there’s always something that’s going to break. No matter how well you maintain them, no matter how much rebuilding you do, they will always surprise you with some little leak or shorted wire. It winds up being too much of a hassle"

Yes, 11 at the Giro, but I suspect that 5110 only made the run from Bologna to Sant'Agata.

I confirme #5110 has not done the Giro, because Simon Kidston drove a "guest" Aventador...

Although it is true that with these vintage italian cars, there often is something that goes wrong when you do drive them (and by that i mean drive it more than the 2 miles trip to starbuck..), it is the only way id consider owning these cars. It's very nice to have them to look at but how can you look at them and not want to go for a drive??? Hell, even my modern 911 makes me want to go for a drive when i look at it.

I dont really buy/understand his line "This is los angeles so it's scary to drive and i dont want the attention..".
I have no idea how famous he is but it's a shame he is not enjoying his cars the proper way.

    Andrew,

There are 2 main reasons I posted this, and they are:

    1. There are quite a few far more famous people than he is, who drive around LA in classic cars & supercars. He even pointed one out himself.

    2. There are quite a few far more valuable cars than his 2 Miuras, being driven around LA.

To cap it off, he points out the irony of his argument himself, because, after all, he is someone who survives by seeking the limelight, and chooses to live in LA. I thought his piece was quite hilarious.

Hilarious is one adjective, but you are being generous I think. I can think of a few others not so complimentary. Useless is one of them.
