Hi, I picked up the Dino at DK Engineering in the UK a few weeks back and drove her back to Norway. On the road through Sweden the water temp rose very quickly and boiled over - had to laugh at the cliche of a mid-engined italian sports car overheating... Anyway, although there was a horrible traffic jam and it was very, very hot, the Dino has never had any problems before. I discovered that the fans where not operating, and a local mechanic managed to "hot wire" it so that they now run all the time. The car has since been fine, but I need to source a new regulator switch (which I think is the culprit - any other thoughts are much appreciated). I've attached a picture of the switch, and the ones I have found (dinoparts, etc) are of a different type. Any ideas on where I can find the correct switch for an L-series? I do not believe that an exact to original switch is currently available unless you find an NOS one somewhere. All of the new switches have a slightly different shape but perform the exact same job. Also if you want to test your existing switch here is how to do it: Dino 246 Restoration Blog: A hot water bath: Restoring and testing the radiator fan switch
Thank you for that info. Gotta love FChat. Will test the switch and see if it works. Already saw this link, and love the page
You can buy these units for about $50 at the leading Ferrari supplier from Atlanta but I've found many parts for Alfas are nearly identical but cost far less. Here is one for $8.95, check your temp range https://www.centerlinealfa.com/electrical-system/1194
Thanks for that - I'm driving down to a classic alfa specialist next week (not many Dino experts up here) who should have something suitable.
