I could care less even if it didn't, as long as it's just as fun or more fun than my Scuderia. My MP4 will run circles around either scud or 458, but the Scuderia is still the favorite in the garage.

That pretty much accords with what I have been told from someone who has seen the finished car.

I believe so. Pretty radical differences to 458.

Do you mean 150 pounds or 150kg?
Scuderia was about 200 pounds lighter than the F430.

Just a short update..I am now in the condition to take in about two weeks, the final decision. To book my slot with a 10.000 euro downpayment or not. This is not a real order. This is just the possibility to book one of the first available slots. Btw , and this is the real update, there are still no news about the car. What is known is that possibly, it will be presented at Frankfurt and that in this case, some time before, the people that booked it, will be invited to visit the company and the car. Privatly ofcourse. At that time it will possible to transform the booking in a real contract since even the price is just supposed at this time. My dealer think it will be around 30.000 euro more expensive. There are even no news about a possible delivery time but early next year seems they will start to deliver the first cars.
I will decide in the next two weeks what to do. As you can imagine, it will be an interesting period. As soon as I will get more news and "I will be or feel allowed", I will share with you (since now my position starts to be delicate as you understand).

Good luck with your decision, especially because there will be no new information in these coming 2 weeks, apart from more speculation by all...

I'm in a slightly different position: I've have downplayed 30,000 EUR for the car more than 6 months already, but that's the only way (in Dubai at least) I'll ever make it to the list (regardless the position), especially since I'm new to the brand. Whether that will eventually pay off or not is to be seen, but it's worth trying, right?

I assume your 10,000 EUR down-payment will be refundable in case you decide not to go forward with the actual order? In that case, there's nothing to lose, is it?

As none of has any hard info, everything is just guess work. Your dealer's comment about 30k more I think, unfortunately, is a bad guess. The 430 Scuderia was @ 280k US$ vs @ 220k US$ for a regular 430 coupe. Add the Scuderia stripe for 10k and difference is now 70K US$.
I would assume that 458 would carry at least the same premium. For everybody that wants one, I truly hope the difference is that small.
Good luck on your quest for this likely outrageous car!

Usually when people are talking about the "Scuderia" premium, they are comparing to comparably equipped regular model.

Since the Scuderia will come with a lot of features that are optional on the regular model, the cost differences is much smaller if you compare them comparably equipped.

In Dubai there are no lists nor do you have to be a previous customer to order any brand new ferrari, including the F12. Here so far the dealer doesn't have any concrete information about the 458 track oriented version yet, not even what it will be called. Not monte carlo for sure. My educated guess is that it will cost at least AED 200,000 (approx $50k) more than the Italia for a 5% improvement in performance. Looks are subjective but it is fair to say not all will prefer it over the base 458.
I would suggest to any one that the base 458 would be far better value, and if you have the extra dough that you are willing to spend, you'll be much happier with the 740 horses and V12 might of the F12. I would get that any day over the overpriced 458 trackster. And don't expect first deliveries of these before Spring 2014.

Interesting perspective...Did you ever own/drive a 430 Scuderia? The difference between a Scuderia and a regular 430 is massive. To me at least the 430 Scuderia was the best of the previous generation of Ferraris and a much better drive than my 599GTO and my Enzo (of course all of this is a matter of personal opinion). The statement "5% improvement in performance" is slightly misleading. 5% better than what? straightline acceleration which is meaningless or Fiorano lap times which is enormous?

The choice between 458 Scuderia and F12 is one that few people will ever make. If you like front engined V12 Ferraris you probably wont consider the 458 Scuderia and vice versa. Both would be excellent buys but for some reason my relationship with front engined V12 Ferraris is always short. Whereas my 2008 Scuderia still sits in my garage. Naturally people with the requisite means will get both.

With regards to dates and prices, Frankfurt is definitely the launch venue and the price is approx 230.000 EUR (incl European taxes and excluding options)...The options list is not out yet and Ferrari are very tight lipped about the name. First deliveries are Q4 2013.

    Please form an orderly queue...

Great post! What amazes me is that you are praising the 430 Scuderia so much, and yet there are other board members who have sold theirs because it didn't do much for them (one went back to Challenge Stradale).

Very cool to read posts like these... Thanks.

Trigger happy car naming arrogant Di Montezemolo is to be blamed for the bland and lame name LaFerrari. What a waste of a name for what I consider the best car of this decade.

LaFerrari is just a horrid name.

It would not surprise me if the same arrogant individual comes up with another stupid name, such as LaPista.

I would de-badge a 458 track-day car from any name such as LaPista, Monte Carlo, Pista.

Actually, it is worse, I'm awaiting for the release, but a stupid name would prevent me to buy the car.

Di Montezemolo needs to get his game together, he needs to listen more to the customers and not to himself.

The Track-Day street legal car has to have a stable name.

The same way the Spider has been the name for the cabriolet version of the mid engine V8 since the 355, the track-day street car needs to stick to a stable name. Whether it is Stradale or Scuderia is up to them. I prefer Scuderia, as it has more racing pedigree than Stradale.
