The front air "scoop" looks homemade. The plugs in the 1/4 panels are where the original bumper ends mounted for the 1st series style big bumpers like my car has. Normally when the bumpers were changed, these were filled and painted body color, or the Boxer paint scheme was done to eliminate colormatch and blend problems. Too bad about the aluminum window trim being painted. I swear I saw this car for sale a few years ago at a dealer either in Texas or Oregon...
No smog stuff on this car either. Will need it to pass visual inspection in CA even if it is a '75. Unless they changed that rule recently...
This entire thread is a testament to why I am trying to OEM my car as much as possible with the exception of fuel lines and brake lines to stop my car and stop it from catching on fire. I am stunned at the disaster that some of these cars have been turned into. I love the GT4, but I don't love what some people have shown in this thread, which is clearly NOT GT4's. That thing with the round tail lights is a rolling disaster from hell.
You would think so wouldn't you? But Most people looking for GT4's are shopping price...you get what you pay for.
Good day All, Another GT4 on Ebay: 1975 Dino Badged... The first pic does not look too bad, until you look at all the pics...the car looks a little tired... Cheers, Sam Ferrari : Other in Ferrari | eBay Motors Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes it does that is my point of keeping mine OEM all the way. It will be even more that way 20 years from now. MB
I need another Ferrari like a hole in the head. But I am still thinking about it. Rare luggage tray car. Yes it needs some work, but this is the rarest of the Dinos. It's probably worth the purchase at the right price and if it checks out mechanically. @ GT4Joe: I recognize this year as smog inspection exempt - Woohoo! - and that would relieve you from the biennual rodeo that caused Greg to flee the state in '09 in his '76 veloplastic 308. However, the law also says that the car must be equipped with its original smog equipment, namely the air pump and PCV's for 1975. No one checks if they work, just that they are installed. Had a '69 427 Vette that was also smog exempt, but when you sell the car in state, that stuff is supposed to be on it. I am not sure where they would snag you for the offense, but that's the official line. I'd probably just put in a Pep Boys bolt-on that could be removed at will. Need to find the bracket though. I need to go down and look at this car. I'm in the desert this weekend but I may be back on Sunday and be up for a trip to the dealership.
Hi vvassallo, I purchased a 75 gt4 last year, local car, private party and had it registered here (bay area). No inspection required. If you are bringing in the car from out of state maybe that triggers the inspection befor they give you your tags to make sure the car is street worthy and legal. good luck on the search!
Vince, just buy it and park it here in AZ (she will never know). Everyone needs three F-cars, don't they?

Oh thanks ! With my luck I'll find this in my yard at the end of the auction and I'll have yet another project to complete.... Could be worse! LOL!
Good day All, Just checked... sold for $17.6K USD ... but the last few bids have 0 feedback scores...and both never bid on any other auction except for this one... Cheers, Sam
Hey Guys - what do you all think of the latest offering on ebay? I'm back looking as I couldn't talk myself into a 3.2 Carrera, so I need some educatin'! Ferrari : 308 GT4 in Ferrari | eBay Motors
First, I am a car guy and not at all a Ferrari expert or all that knowledgable about specific models. The 308GT4 is a favorite of mine is likely what I will buy when I clean out my inventory of other toys. The car in the eBay ad has 92,000 miles, almost all of it under one owner. They say that if anything it has been over serviced. I say BS. Nothing in the ad actually indicates that and they give no detail so it sounds like a smokey sales pitch. There is absolutely no mention of recent service of the major issues of the 308 series: timing belt, valves, water pump. There are a lot of photos, but not too close. They did own up to the peeling paint on the right rear quarter but you can't hide it. Obvious respray and I am guessing that the paint may not be that great from 3 feet but it's ok at 10. The interior is looking a little tired, especially the carpets. No surprise really, but depending on what you want from the car, it will be an expense, and interiors are not cheap ( nor is any thing else). The only note about the price is... there are no bids. The GT4 is the lowest purchase price Ferrari available and usually by a significant margin from a standard 308. I love the car but it has never been that much of a popular car. That said, it still costs the same to maintain. While I can't stand the color, the Verde Germoglio 308GT4 is a lot nicer.... Can someone else with some experience step in?
It has the correct paint sticker something no one can find or reproduce! I think at that mileage the engine should have been rebuilt but I have another pal in NY still running his award winning GT4 with almost 100K and never had the valves replaced. It is a 79 so not smog exempt, something I think is important IF you are in CA. I has a baldwin filter which is good, would like to see the tools it has the original trunk carpet in good shape. I am surprised at the wear on the rear seats, must have thrown his gym bag there or something! Has real air box nut screws but they should be silver or gold cad and always bummed when a real ferrari has the wrong hose bands on the carb and oil radiator hoses it shows a lack of respect these are readily available! Although nothing big I bet I could find some rust on it my car has only been washed one by hose in 20 years never been in the rain except a light drizzle always garaged and has a small bit on the rear bottom behind the wheel. Ferrari put a sandwich material here very dumb that traps the water. That said if kept dry mine has not gotten any worse in 20 years
The auction says it is 1979 m.y. ,the engine pictures shows the old ignition system with 2 distributors and no electronic ,my 1978 car has only 1 distributor with electronic ignition and everything is original, so , i do'nt believe m.y. 1979 . have no e.i. and 2 distributors i think it should be as mine .
Good day All, Just documenting these cars... Also the ad says 'This is a true Beverly Hills, CA car that has been overly serviced since the day it left Ferrari of Beverly Hills in 1979" ... and then it says that the car has been relocated to their clients second home in BC (British Columbia Canada). Ok, but then to have the car plated in BC means that the car has been imported into Canada and registered in BC and so the car is now a Canadian car and so this would mean the car would need to be imported back into the US. Secondly, I question whether the owner is continuing the car's service in Beverly Hills given that the car is now 1200 miles (2000km) from Beverly Hills. The other comment "Most importantly, this example has all of its original paint" I find interesting, as I have never seen boxer paint with the lower half painted gloss black. maybe this was an option? I do not know and perhaps others can comment. Anyway.... here are some pics for future reference.
