Well, same old song (almost). I took the F355 out last night for a drive up into the mountains and she ran flawlessly. On the way back down however, the battery light came on, but the car still ran well all the way home. The warning light kind of flickers, but this morning I took it out for a run again and it ran great. Put the voltmeter to the terminals and the battery is putting out 12.6V. At idle, the engine is putting out low 13's. Revving gets it up to where it should be at about 14.2V. The headlights dim and brighten when the engine is revved as well, so I'm guessing regulator right? Anything else to check instead?

She is scheduled to go in for her 30K major on Friday and FASTCARS is almost a two hour drive away. Not sure I want to chance it with an iffy alternator. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks, Henry

Like he said check the connections real quick.

Give Craig a call monday let him know whats up and see what he says.

If your getting correct voltage off idle I would drive it but thats me (AAA card). I like flashing lights :)

If you need a new voltage regulator, do NOT use Regitar parts...we've had issues with those. Try to find oem Nippondenso parts.

Last two rebuilds were with Regitar regulator and rectifier. thanks guys. And Tim, yes I do have my AAA Premiere card with the 100 mile towing option. But that red light staring me in the face makes me nervous.

Have the condition of the slip rings and brushes checked. And this time put in a USI regulator. Part number - #00632, 71-30003/SCP

Tom, I've ordered alternator parts from UNIT2Inc in Ventura, CA. Haven't purchased the USI brand from them yet, but they might be able to get one for you. Sorry, I don't have their number handy but you can find them on the internet. Talk to Scott.

    Best of luck, Henry

Well, the Unit II Inc email bounces. I tried the phone number and left a voice mail, so we'll see if they are still around.

Does anyone know of other sources for the USI regulator?
