That link goes to a LinkedIn login page. And I can't imagine seeing an ad for a 250 GTO - it's just one of those things that doesn't get advertised.

There are a couple that are available none of which are advertised, to my knowledge.

The asking price equates to over $53M US.

Considering that is a picture of RL's car, and RL's car is not available, I doubt it's real. FYI RL has been offered over 55MUSD for his car and turned it down.

A GTO has sold for over 53MUSD with all the brokers covered.

As I said it is serial number 3809GT - not RL car.

The photo is of RLs car. My point was, why if the ad is real, use a photo of car that isn't available?

Can't tell you that, but I'm sure you can figure it out :). It sold in the last three months, only one has traded hands in the last three months that I'm aware of. It's sort of an open secret.

I recently heard that one prominent 250GTO owner, who has had a lot of publicity for owning said GTO, actually owns two.

Has anyone else heard about anyone owning more than one?

An open secret that doesn't extend to me. :) I looked on Barchetta and there are no details of any GTOs changing hands recently. The only GTOs that I can think of that may have been for sale are 3809GT and 2 where their owners passed away recently or in the last few years.

Hadn't noticed him. Maybe two people own two Ferrari 250GTOs then!

Craig McCaw bought the Stirling Moss GTO for $35 million. To get to $53 million, one would have to have a commission of over 50%, which didn't happen.

I am unclear on a $53 million car, too. And I try to follow these things. I admit I may have missed it, but if it is such an open secret, why not tell?

I don't believe the deal is completely done, that's why. That was the agreed upon amount, and I'm not sure if the deal is still in transaction, it may be. If it fell through, someone would have told me, but AFAIK, the deal hasn't closed yet.

Barchetta is a bit behind on these things sometimes, it's understandable in this case, but sometimes it takes months for information to be added about a car. Barchetta is wrong sometimes too, it's a good resource for a quick overview of a car's history.

In the 1980s and 1990s a Japanese collector owned three GTOs at one point.

Sir Anthony Bamford is a long time owner of 3767 and 4399 but that is not a secret.

Mid-nineties. Matsuda had 250 GTOs 3445 GT and 4675 GT. At the same time, he had 3673 SA with a GTO-style body.

I must have been misinformed then, because it's not Sir Anthony either. Can't imagine there are three people - including two Brits - who own two x 250 GTOs...

The most prominent, British, 250 GTO owner, who gets lots of publicity for owning said GTO would be (IMO) Nick Mason, but I wasn't aware that he owned two.

Edit: Maybe Chris Evans, but I thought he sold his '64 GTO in order to fund other cars, possibly a '62 GTO.
