Dessert

I'm one of those guys that if I just look at a carb, I gain ten pounds. Needless to say, it is no carbs for me. And even though I have never had a sweet tooth, I find myself really craving some dessert. So here is what I have come up with -- I spray a bunch of whipped cream into a bowl of berries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, any thing but strawberries. I figure that the whipped cream is nothing but air. And the berries have antioxidants. So I'm good right?

The only problem is I keep hearing Herb Alpert...

Oh man, I was so in love with her when I was a kid. Not sure who's album it was but I liked that kind of stuff and loved to see her picture. I'd eat all that whipped cream off her berries no problem.

Oh wait, you weren't talking about her "berries" were you?!?!?

 

Et tu? I'm glad we didn't have the Internet as kids. Imagine being a horn dawg over an album cover. My guess is she wouldn't even get a second look today what with the things kids see today just as pop ups.

 

It would appear it wasn't just the two of us!! Not to ruin the illusion but I guess she's still alive and kicking.....

Pop had a bunch of his albums back then & that one was in front - well, facing the TV, anyway . . .

 

just to update... I had the original album, and Los Angeles Magazine did an update of the photo with Salma Hayek in 1996 for their restaurant issue. My wife was less enthused than I was when she saw it, though. Thought you might enjoy the homage to the original... Bob H

Ah, I'm not sure how to ask this; but, well, is she, ah, wearing any clothes?

According to the magazine, she thought she was going to be nude underneath the whipped cream, so she asked the photographer if she could have a cake for a hat. That's why we see the cake with a cherry on top atop her head. I recall they did a story about the cover at the time (with photo shoot photos that were more complete than the cover) and that they had a hard time keep the cream in place due to the heat generated from the lighting. It was a female photographer, and they never specifically "revealed" what she was wearing (or not).

It was, though, a direct and intentional lift from the Herb Alpert original, and done at a time when Salma was just entering her stardom in 1996. Of course, if they actually said she had nothing besides the whipped cream on, it would have caused a furor then and now. The photog did say that when she asked Salma if that was the first time she had been slathered in whipped cream, she said "no, but it's the first time I got pictures".

Looks a bit rich to me, but I can dig the rum part. I kinda hope that wherever I go there is rum.
