Thank you. It's news to me. Maybe because I've always read about motor racing in English, whether it's contemporary reports or historical records. For me it has always been Masta, Eau Rouge, La Source, Blanchimont, Malmedy, Stavelot etc and nothing longer.. Maybe I should get Fangio's book translated to French and learn some stuff :)

Perhaps we should ask the local Belgians about the names they use? I'm always for using the local names, etc...
At least when listening to a french (even if French could be an uneasy topic these days in Belgium...) commentary of any Belgian Grand Prix, usually they would say "le raidillon de l'eau rouge" in full, or "l'épingle de la source" in full...

Another picture that shows how small the 308 is when modern racing seats look too big. LOL

I don't think so. I think the air/fuel is so out of whack that the car is flooding itself to the point that it won't run.

It started cold, but then stalled out about 5 seconds later. Each time I would try to restart it, it would rumble a little bit at first, but then die. The longer I waited between restart attempts, the more rumbling before it choked out. I'm thinking that sounds like the fuel is draining down between restart attempts, so it takes a few seconds before it floods again and the car dies out. It would make some sense that there is too much fuel since I just recently replaced the injectors, but it ran fine for a period of time after that, so I'm not sure why it suddenly lost its tune.

John, I had it written down on my erase board but someone erased it. Argh!

I think the OEM seats where 35lb each. The Sparcos are like 13lbs each.

In the name of science (and just because my seats happen to be out of the car right now), I weighed my factory 83 GTS seats.

    The answer is ...

    Driver's seat: 29.8 lbs
    Passenger's seat: 30.2 lbs

Brian you better check that passengers seat. There must be some nice change in the crease. ;)

yes exactly. weight bias moves forward underbraking then you add engine breaking to the rear axle upsetting the balance. you arent really able to control the balance of the car without heel and toein to match the revs to the given corner and loading up the tires properly for max grip.

a ton more power dosent have much to do with it but engine effective compression ratio may on how severe it wants to brake the rear wheels. much like kick starting a large bore single cylinder dirt bike without a compression valve. depending on the motor specification it can buck you over the handle bars if it dosent catch fire. older turbo cars ie...930 had 6 or 7:1 compression ratios much less engine braking. but with 2nd and 3rd gears going from 60-140mph of the 4 speed box you dont need to shift much!

    cheers

Last Fri a friend of mine, a young airline pilot stopped by while he was in town, and brought his flight attendant girlfriend. This was the best my 81 has ever looked.

Nice combo Brantley. Got any old pics of the GTOs you family has/had? You mentioned that in another thread.

Very nice, but why do you have the small front spoiler?

Because the small spoiler was standard in France and the rest of Europe, despite the fact that in the U.S the deep front spoiler is usually called the "Euro spoiler", which is a misnomer. The "deep spoiler", called in italian "sottoscocca anteriore maggioratto" (it means "augmented front spoiler", by chance!) always was an option here, not a standard.
You would find both type of spoilers here in almost equal proportion.

I have both. I took off my deep spoiler as I much prefer the look of the shallow and it's a huge pain to worry about clipping the deep one every time you're going over a hump in the road or up a kerb.

That does not surprise me, Paul.
Most people I know that are 308 owners and had the "deep spoiler" on the car did took it off, or are in the process of taking it off. Mainly, from what I hear, for the look: they prefer the look of the car with the shallow spoiler.
