I was in the grocery store tonight and noticed a very sleek looking Coke machine. Upon further inspection I noticed that it was designed by Pininfarina. I guess good design is always good design.

    LOL!

The move theater in Woodland Hills has one of these - been there a bunch of times, never noticed it was designed by Pininfarina. If you haven't used one before, it's a pretty cool machine; you can mix and match myriad beverages to create a unique drink (or a horrible one, just depends on how far you go).

There's one at the Sonoma Chicken Coop in Campbell, CA. They look cool, but the interface is fussy.

There's a little chemistry lab inside with high-concentration flavors that are mixed according to your selection, so one machine can dispense a zillion varieties of soda.

I absolutely hate these machines! I don't need or want 500 different choices of soda. When I go to dispense my normal, run of the mill Coke, I now have to press 4 different buttons. Plus the interface is always slow, so to press the 4 buttons takes a long time....not to mention everyone in front of me has to go through the same drawn out process, which usually results in a long line. I want to punch my fist through these damn things everytime I run across one.

I have to agree while the machines look slick they are clumsy to use. I first saw one in a Subway in California and thought that the user interface and ergonomics were poor. After pouring my drink I chose a table with a good view of the machine. Without fail EVERY PERSON to use the machine struggled in one way or another.

Good design does not require a learning curve!

Correct, but that would be on whomever created the interface rather than who designed the machine
